🎄 Holiday Survival Guide (from your spine’s perspective) 🎄 

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed — not survived with back pain, stiffness, or zero energy. 

Here’s how to keep your body happy this season 👇 

🎁 Lift gifts, not your ego 
Bend your knees, keep it close. 
If it grunts, it’s too heavy. 

🛋️ Couch ≠ recovery 
Move every 30–60 minutes. 
Netflix is great. Prolonged sitting is not. 

🍗 Eat smart(ish) 
Protein + veggies between treats. 
Balance the cookies with something green. 

💧 Hydrate like a pro 
Water between festive drinks. 
Eggnog doesn’t count. 

😴 Sleep is treatment 
Aim for 7–8 hours. 
You can’t out-adjust bad sleep.

Rib pain doesn’t mean you’re broken — it means something needs attention. 

Rib pain can show up as sharp pain with breathing, discomfort when twisting, pain with coughing or sneezing, or tightness around the chest and upper back. These signs and symptoms often relate to movement, posture, strain, or overuse — not just “sleeping wrong.” 

As a chiropractor, I focus on identifying why the rib area is irritated and creating care options based on your symptoms and goals — including manual care, mobility work, breathing strategies, and rehab exercises.

Rib pain can be challenging to diagnose 

Rib discomfort can be caused by: 
• Costochondral irritation 
• Rib or intercostal muscle strain 
• Thoracic spine mobility issues 
• Posture, breathing mechanics, or overuse 

Common signs include pain with deep breaths, twisting, coughing, or pressure along the rib cage. 

As a chiropractor, treatment focuses on: 
✔ Improving thoracic and rib mobility 
✔ Addressing soft tissue tension 
✔ Restoring movement patterns 
✔ Breathing and posture education 

If rib pain is limiting how you move or breathe, getting it properly assessed matters.

Ever wonder if that nagging shoulder pain is a frozen shoulder or a pinched nerve from your neck? 🤔 While both can cause discomfort, they have distinct symptoms! Knowing the difference can help you get the right treatment. 

❄️ Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) 
This condition causes stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. It often develops slowly and can make everyday movements difficult. 

• Symptoms: 
• Pain when moving your arm overhead (e.g., reaching for a high shelf). 
• Difficulty reaching behind your back (e.g., fastening a bra, scratching your back). 
• Pain and discomfort when sleeping on the affected side. 
• Gradual loss of range of motion in the shoulder. 
• It feels like the shoulder joint itself is “stuck.” 

⚡ Pinched Nerve from the Neck (Cervical Radiculopathy) 

When a nerve root in your neck gets compressed or irritated, it can send pain and other sensations down your arm. 

• Symptoms: 
• Pain in the shoulder blade area, shoulder, or arm. 
• Numbness, tingling, or “pins and needles” sensation that radiates down the arm and into the hand/fingers. 
• Weakness in the arm or hand. 
• Symptoms often get worse when your arm is in a lower, dependent position. 
• Symptoms may lessen or temporarily improve when you raise your arm overhead (this can relieve pressure on the nerve).
