Tell me you have kids without telling me you have kids…

My hand sanitizer is now bedazzled.
Apparently glitter makes it better.

It does not.
It absolutely does not.

Have you tried these?
1. Walking🚶‍♀️the slight sway of the pelvis while walking, along with gravity, helps the baby move into a better position for labour
2. Curb walking🚶‍♀️tilts the pelvis from side to side, opening up the pelvis to encourage the start of labour
3. Acupuncture 🧘‍♀️stimulates uterine activity, increases blood flow to the cervix, and relaxes the nervous system
4. Chiropractor 🧘‍♀️ helps with pelvic alignment and reducing tension in the ligaments
5. Yoga 🧘‍♀️ prenatal yoga gently opens the hips and pelvis, creating more space for baby to descend
6. Resting 🛌 labour depends heavily on Oxytocin, which increases when the body feels safe, relaxed, low stress, and not overstimulated
7. Eating spicy 🌶the intestines and uterus sit close together and share some nerve pathways, intestinal activity may indirectly stimulate the uterus
8. Ni**le stimulation / s*x ❤️ stimulates hormones that naturally trigger uterine contractions, and have some of the strongest biological evidence

Brought out this steamer to make nian goa, and the core memories came with it.

It’s been in our family for over 60 years. It carried my memories of making Chinese desserts with my grandma, and now it’s teaching my kids about the culture I grew up with.

By sharing about these traditions —through food, laughter, and small shared moments—I hope my kids build their own core memories, just like I did. And maybe one day, they’ll pass them on to their children too.

What holds your memories?

Home birth — part 1 ❤️

3:30am my water broke spontaneously.
Jason set up the room quickly and we went back to bed.

Baby was sunny side up the entire time.
Low back pressure from Jason or the midwife felt like a huge relief during contractions.

The midwife came, set up all her equipment and came back once contractions were more intense.

Once I was in active labor, I wanted the tub.
The warmth of the water really helped make my contractions feel less intense.

Contractions were so intense, but I kept telling myself, I can do it, I can do it.

60-second contractions… almost done.

The kids were around here and there. I remember them playing piano downstairs while I was pushing.

It took 10 minutes to go from 7 to 10 cm — the midwife didn’t even expect it.

I had the urge to push and told the midwife, “I’m pushing!”
Two pushes and baby was out.

I wanted Jason to video the baby coming out, but there was no time.
The second midwife didn’t make it on time, so Jason became the helper.

So thankful for all my team from ❤️

The midwives do home visits for the first two weeks for bloodwork and weight checks.

On day two, one of baby’s numbers were too high — and that’s when everything shifted... stay tuned for

Part 2: when our home birth turned into a hospital stay.
