Respect is not a single act — it’s a standard built by small, everyday moments that help patients and families feel supported, understood, and valued.

At Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH), this value comes to life through team members like Amanda Colangelo, Manager, Food Services, and Tweety Ng, Social Worker, Childbirth and Children’s Services.

Congratulations to Amanda and Tweety on being recognized for the value of Respect through this year’s Honoured to Care Awards. MSH Foundation is also proud to recognize you as MSH Heroes.

This recognition reflects the way they show up for others, going above and beyond the call of duty each and every day.

What began with a moment of concern she couldn’t ignore quickly became a life-changing diagnosis for Stacy DiPasquale.

At Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital, she was guided with a care team that moved with speed and care in her breast cancer treatment, making sure she felt supported and informed from the very beginning.

“When you're going through all this, there's so many tests, follow-ups, and blood work. It can get exhausting. To have staff that you're looking forward to seeing makes it that much better.""

As her treatment continues, Stacy finds strength in the people around her and in the moments that help her hold on to a sense of normal.

We are celebrating Anita Mah, Senior Development Officer, as she steps into a well earned retirement after 10 years with Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation.

A true force behind our fundraising efforts, Anita is a tireless champion for our hospital, leaving an impact that will be felt for years to come. Her passion for fundraising shines in the way she connects with donors and the care she shows for the people behind every gift.

She brought heart to every conversation and opportunity, building meaningful relationships across our community — including a strong and lasting connection within the Chinese community that continues to inspire support for care close to home.

Thank you, Anita, for the dedication and care you share so generously with donors, colleagues, and our community. Your drive, warmth, and integrity has shaped so much of our work, and many of us have learned from the pride and purpose you brought to our team every day.

Wishing you a retirement filled with joy, rest, trips to Italy, and plenty of time with your family and your cat. Your Foundation family will always be cheering you on with deep gratitude and appreciation. 💙

Some connections carry you through everything. 💙

For Terry Silimanis, his cancer care journey is shaped not only by the treatment he receives, but by the constant presence of his sister, Elaine Makos.

Whether it was rushing to the Emergency Department in the middle of the night or sitting beside him during chemotherapy, Elaine is a steady presence Terry can always count on.

Their bond is rooted in trust, humour, and a shared desire to uplift the spirits of others. “We’re made from the same mold,” Terry says. Through every challenge, it’s this connection that continues to make the difficult moments easier.

A special bond worth recognizing on National Siblings Day.

Oak Valley Health and Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) Foundation welcomed municipal leaders and community partners to MSH to celebrate a remarkable milestone.

In recognition of a $1 million contribution raised through community events led by Iainlovattws and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, we proudly unveiled the Mayor Iain Lovatt & The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville Seating Area. Located at the hospital’s main staircase, this special naming reflects the strength of a community coming together to support local health care.

This contribution helps fund critical equipment and priority needs across the hospital, ensuring patients and families can continue to access the care they need close to home.

Thank you to Mayor Lovatt, the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, and every donor and volunteer who made this impact possible. 💙

Care close to home is made possible by people who choose to give in ways that last.

For Neil Sweeney, monthly giving offers a simple and consistent way to support Oak Valley Health's Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH). “Monthly giving guarantees our commitment to the hospital, plus, we don’t have to remember to give — our donation happens automatically.”

That steady support helps fund vital equipment, services, and priority needs at MSH, ensuring care is always there for our community.
