💜 Today, The Centre for Dreams is proud to recognize Purple Day and help raise awareness about epilepsy. This day is an opportunity to learn more, show compassion, and stand in support of the many individuals and families who are impacted by epilepsy in our community and around the world.
 
By wearing purple and sharing awareness, we help build a more inclusive and understanding world where every individual feels supported and valued. Together, we continue to live beyond the label by celebrating abilities, promoting acceptance, and empowering our members to reach for their dreams. 💜

Way to go, Cassie. 👏💙

This month’s Way to Go Wednesday spotlight goes to Cassie, who has recently taken on a new DreamWorx job placement. Cassie has made the move from her placement at Subway to a new role at Tim Hortons, where she is helping with cleaning tables and trays, and greeting customers.

We are so proud of Cassie for embracing this change and continuing to build her job skills and confidence in the community. Your hard work and positive attitude are shining through. Keep up the great work, Cassie!

Our talented members have been hard at work creating beautiful pieces from our Simply Beautiful Collection of handmade beaded jewelry. Each bracelet is thoughtfully crafted with creativity, care, and pride, making every piece truly one of a kind. 💎

We recently kicked things off at the Markham Board of Trade Women’s Networking Luncheon, where we were proud to represent The Centre for Dreams and showcase our members’ stunning creations.

From our dedicated staff, students, and volunteers, to the inspiring women in our membership, to the mothers, sisters, caregivers, and supporters who stand beside our community every day. The Centre for Dreams is stronger because of you.

The countdown is on! ⛳

Our 4th Annual Dreams On The Green Golf Classic is coming up on Friday, July 24 at the beautiful Lebovic Golf Club, and we cannot wait to spend a great day on the course with our amazing community of supporters.

This special event brings together golfers, sponsors, and friends of the Centre for Dreams for a fun day filled with great golf, connection, and a shared purpose. Every swing, every laugh, and every conversation helps support our members and the programs that empower them to live beyond the label.

Last weekend, our Youth Achieving Dreams program welcomed a very special guest. 😊

U of T medical student Alicia joined our YAD members to lead a simulated doctor’s office visit. The session gave our youth the chance to walk through what a medical appointment looks like, ask questions, practice conversations, and feel more confident about navigating healthcare settings. 🩺

It was hands on, engaging, and most importantly, empowering. Experiences like this help our youth build independence and real world skills in a supportive environment.

Thank you, Alicia, for sharing your time and knowledge with our YAD members. We appreciate your commitment to helping our youth feel informed, prepared, and confident. 💙🧡💜

We’ve had a lot to celebrate lately at the Centre for Dreams.

In February, we were proud to celebrate the birthdays of John, Ashley, Harmonie, and our wonderful Program Coordinator Amanda. Each of you brings something special to our community, and we are so grateful for the energy, kindness, and dedication you share with us every day.

We also made sure to recognize two January birthdays we weren’t able to celebrate at the time. A big happy birthday to Jack and Samarth. We are so glad we could mark your special days together.

As the Centre for Dreams celebrates 35 years of impact, growth, and community, we are excited to share that a full year of special events, campaigns, and celebrations is coming soon. From signature fundraisers to storytelling initiatives that highlight the voices that helped shape who we are today, this anniversary year will honour our past while looking ahead to the future.

We invite you to come along on this celebratory ride with us as we mark 35 years of building inclusive communities and supporting our members in achieving their goals.

As we wrap up our throwback series, we’re taking a moment to recognize the memories, milestones, and growth that have shaped the Centre for Dreams over the past 35 years. From humble beginnings to the vibrant, supportive community we are today, every member, family, staff, student, volunteer, and supporter has been part of this story.

What started with heart and family has grown into a progressive organization grounded in inclusion, compassion, and possibility. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited about where we’re going.

Here’s to continuing the journey, creating new experiences, and building even more dreams together in the years ahead ✨

Where job skills met real opportunity 💼✨
 
As the Centre for Dreams continued to grow, so did the vision for meaningful employment support. That vision became DreamWorx, our dedicated job skills program built to give members practical, hands-on experience they could carry into the workplace.
 
We even retrofitted a dedicated DreamWorx room designed to feel like real job settings, where members could practice tasks, build confidence, and strengthen the skills learned through the DreamWorx curriculum. From there, those skills carried over into weekly job placements across the community.
 
It was a big step forward and a natural extension of our Live Beyond the Label message. Learning, practicing, and showing the community what our members can do every day. 🌟
