“For the first time in 18 years, my liver enzymes are in the normal range. My liver is healing, and so is my hope.”
Imagine having major surgery… only to discover the real problem was something else entirely. That’s Catherine’s story. For many years, her bloodwork showed elevated liver enzymes, but they were never high enough to cause concern. Until one day after her gallbladder was removed, she endured what felt like another gallstone attack.
Bloodwork showed that her liver enzymes were now alarmingly high – and they kept climbing – setting in motion a diagnosis of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a silent, rare autoimmune disease.
No one should have to wait decades for answers or face the fear and isolation of a diagnosis that few understand. Together, we can regenerate hope.
