“For the first time in 18 years, my liver enzymes are in the normal range. My liver is healing, and so is my hope.”

Imagine having major surgery… only to discover the real problem was something else entirely. That’s Catherine’s story. For many years, her bloodwork showed elevated liver enzymes, but they were never high enough to cause concern. Until one day after her gallbladder was removed, she endured what felt like another gallstone attack.

Bloodwork showed that her liver enzymes were now alarmingly high – and they kept climbing – setting in motion a diagnosis of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a silent, rare autoimmune disease.

No one should have to wait decades for answers or face the fear and isolation of a diagnosis that few understand. Together, we can regenerate hope.

👶 Children learn by watching. The healthy choices you make today, help shape the habits they’ll carry into tomorrow.

When kids see balanced meals on the table, when they see you moving your body, when they see you caring for your health, they learn to do the same. Childhood obesity rates have more than tripled in the last 30 years, and the risk of MASLD has grown with it. But daily movement, balanced meals, and less processed sugar can protect growing livers.

By taking the Protect My Liver Pledge, you are not just caring for yourself, you are shaping healthy habits for the next generation.

What is Cirrhosis?

Time to open the liver dictionary! 📕

Cirrhosis develops when the liver experiences repeated damage over time, from things like infections, alcohol, diet, or other chronic conditions, leading to the development of scar tissue. This scarring can slow down the liver’s ability to perform its vital functions. Cirrhosis is a serious condition, so understanding the risks is an important step in protecting your liver health.

October 29 is Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) Awareness Day. Today, we’re raising awareness for this rare, chronic liver disease that affects over 4,000 people across Canada.

PSC causes inflammation and scarring of the bile ducts, which can lead to serious liver damage and even liver failure. While the exact cause is still unknown and there is no cure, increased awareness is essential to support early diagnosis and improve future research.

Join us in shining a light on PSC and standing with everyone impacted by this rare disease.
