Call it common sense, but if every dollar earned can be tracked, reported, and accounted for… then it doesn’t feel unreasonable to expect the same level of clarity in return. For a lot of hardworking people, taxes aren’t just numbers—they represent long hours, early mornings, and years of effort. That money didn’t come easy, and it wasn’t given lightly. It was contributed with the understanding that it serves a purpose, that it goes somewhere meaningful.

What makes people pause is not the act of paying—it’s the lack of transparency about where it all ends up. Folks don’t expect perfection, but they do expect honesty. They expect to see the connection between what they give and what comes back to their communities, their roads, their schools, their future. Because when you’ve spent a lifetime doing your part, you start to value accountability a little more. Not out of distrust, but out of fairness. At the end of the day, people aren’t asking for control… they’re asking for clarity.

Final shots were 27-25 Cubs.
