On Remembrance Day, we take time to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in times of conflict and peace. It is a day of collective reflection — a moment to pause, remember, and express gratitude for the freedoms and safety we experience because of their dedication.

Today is a reminder that mental health matters — every day, for everyone.
As a therapist, I see the courage it takes to face what’s hard, to name what hurts, and to keep showing up for yourself even when it feels impossible.

Let this be your reminder: you don’t have to have it all together. Healing isn’t linear, and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Take a moment today to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself. You’re worth the care you give to others. 💚

Many clients ask me how EMDR is helpful and what does being certified in EMDR mean vs trained. EMDR has shifted my practice and has become my go-to modality. Being certified in EMDR means I’ve gone beyond the basic training to deepen my skill in helping clients safely process trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain.

✨ EMDR Certification includes:
✔️ Advanced training beyond the basics
✔️ Supervised work with a wide range of clients
✔️ Extensive consultation with EMDR experts
✔️ Ongoing education in trauma-informed care
✔️ Commitment to following EMDR’s evidence-based model

Who can benefit from EMDR?

EMDR is a powerful therapy for people who have experienced:
* Trauma or PTSD (including childhood or relationship trauma)
* Anxiety or panic attacks
* Grief and loss
* Negative self-beliefs and low self-esteem
* Distressing memories that still feel “stuck”
* First responders, survivors, and those navigating life transitions

I'm here to answer any questions you might have. Reach out anytime. 💛

Today, we recognize National PTSD Day, a time to raise awareness of the real and lasting impact of trauma. PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is not a weakness—it's a valid response to experiencing or witnessing deeply distressing events.

Many live silently with PTSD, often unsure of where to turn. As a Clinical therapists, I want you to know: healing is possible, and help is available. Evidence-based treatments like EMDR, CBT, and trauma-informed therapy can support recovery and resilience.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, you are not alone. Support exists, and healing starts with that first step.

Hello Spring!!

I have been away from my social media but now want to share what I have been up too….

I flew to Vancouver to attend EMDR Canada’s conference. I was able to tour the beautiful city, enjoy walks along the boardwalk and meet some incredible people in mental health industry.
Gabor Mate, provided an amazing seminar on compasssion fatigue. Robin Shapiro blessed us with her humor and knowledge.

Recently, I took a course on EMDR and Grief. This will be an added tool to my practice.

In the background, I have been studying for my Clincial exam and very excited to share after months of studying, I passed the ASWB exam and officially a Registered Clinical Licensed Social Worker (RCSW).

Exciting things happened in the last few months. Now it’s time to enjoy some spring weather!

I hope you all have had the opportunity to enjoy some sunshine and warm weather.

The holiday season, particularly Christmas, often brings joyous celebrations, but it can also lead to significant stress due to the pressures of gift shopping, party planning, and managing family expectations. To navigate this bustling time while preserving your well-being, it's essential to prioritize self-care.

* Start by setting realistic expectations for yourself and your celebrations, focusing on what truly matters to you and your loved ones.

*Create a budget to alleviate financial anxiety and consider thoughtful, homemade gifts to save money.

*Incorporate mindfulness practices, like meditation or deep breathing, to help center yourself amidst the chaos.

*Don’t hesitate to delegate tasks to family and friends, allowing for shared responsibilities and deeper connections.

*Remember to say no to activities that don’t align with your
priorities, and schedule moments for relaxation to recharge.

*Finally, embrace the spirit of gratitude by reflecting on what you appreciate during this time, helping to cultivate joy and reduce stress.

By implementing these strategies, you can enjoy a more balanced and fulfilling holiday season.

Happy holidays!

October 10 is World Mental Health Day. It plays a crucial role in raising awareness about mental health issues and mobilizing efforts to support mental well-being. Its significance lies in fostering a global conversation about mental health, a topic that has long been shrouded in stigma and misconceptions. By openly discussing mental health, we help break down the barriers of silence and shame that prevent many people from seeking the care they need. Decreasing stigma is essential because it creates a more inclusive and supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to talk about their mental health struggles without fear of judgment. This, in turn, encourages early intervention, access to treatment, and overall societal understanding, which are critical steps toward improving mental health outcomes worldwide.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month:

Su***de Prevention Month serves as a vital reminder to raise awareness, foster understanding, and encourage open conversations about mental health and su***de prevention. It highlights the importance of recognizing warning signs, offering support, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health struggles.

If you're feeling suicidal, reaching out for support is a crucial first step toward finding help and hope. Start by talking to someone you trust, whether it’s a friend, family member, or counsellor, and let them know what you're going through.

Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength, and there are people and resources available to help you through this difficult time.

Mental health support is crucial for the farming community due to the unique stresses and isolation they often face. Farming involves long hours, financial uncertainty, and the burden of dealing with unpredictable environmental factors, all of which can significantly impact mental well-being. Additionally, the rural setting of many farms can lead to social isolation, making access to mental health resources even more critical. Providing tailored support services, including counseling and community networks, helps address these challenges and fosters resilience. By prioritizing mental health, we ensure that farmers receive the care they need to maintain both their emotional well-being and the vitality of their farming operations.
