United Nurses of Alberta and Alberta Health Services have once again agreed to extend the North Zone Locum Program Letter of Understanding, this time until March 31, 2026. The Letter of Understanding had been scheduled to expire on September 25, 2025 and was extended in August to December 31, 2025.....

The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees announced this morning that they had reached a tentative agreement for their Auxiliary Nursing Care members employed by Alberta Health Services, Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta and Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre. This means that Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Care Aides and other health care workers represented by AUPE are not going on strike today.

United Nurses of Alberta thanks our Local executives who were working hard over the past few weeks to inform and provide guidance to UNA members about what to do in the event of the strike and how to best support their AUPE co-workers.

UNA congratulates AUPE for reaching a tentative agreement and commends our AUPE co-workers for demonstrating such strong solidarity in their fight for fairness and respect.

The AUPE - Alberta Union of Provincial Employees has served 72-hour strike notice for its 16,000 member bargaining unit that includes Licensed Practical Nurses, Health Care Aides and other workers employed by Alberta Health Services, Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta and the Allen Gray Continuing Care Centre.

UNA stands with our AUPE co-workers in their fight for a fair collective agreement and UNA members will do everything we can to support our co-workers in this struggle. UNA will soon be providing more guidance to members and Local executives about what to do when the AUPE strike begins at on Saturday, November 22 at 8:30 a.m. (🌟Watch UNA's social media and website for updates).
