Pawsome Walks Brigade Dog Walking Tail wagging walks for busy lives! 🐕
Your neighborhood pet pros! Energizing dog walks and cozy at-home kitty visits. What makes our service stand out?

We ensure your furry family gets the exercise, socialization and snuggles they crave. Pawsome Walks Brigade Dog Walking offers dog walks for small groups of socialized dogs. Included are home pick up and drop-off as well as transportation to local parks and pathways for exercise, fun, and socialization. We prioritize positive reinforcement working on basic obedience commands and recall training during our walks. We provide a quieter, more individualized setting that allows your dog to thrive physically and mentally. Your dog will enjoy walks tailored to engage their senses, whether they are exploring new terrain or simply enjoying the outdoors. This low-stress approach is a perfect alternative to loud, busy environments of doggie daycares or the inconvenience of scheduling drop-offs and pick-ups around your busy schedule. Each walk comes with a post-walk report card/summary and a gentle rub-down ensuring they are clean and comfortable. Your dog will return home tired but happy! A happy dog is an exercised and socialized dog. Pawsome Walks Brigade Dog Walking also offers cat sitting. This includes regular feeding, fresh water, playtime, companionship, and litter box maintenance. Whether it's dietary restrictions, medication administration, nail clipping, or personalized playtime, we are here to provide the best care for your feline friends when you are away. With a lifelong love for animals, I began my career as a veterinary assistant for 10 years. Over the past 20 years, I have built a career as a professional dog walker with a diverse range of dogs including service, assistance, and therapy dogs. Through my experience as a veterinary assistant, I am also knowledgeable about the unique needs of older cats and dogs, collaborating with clients to provide tailored care. My qualifications include certification in Dog and Cat First Aid and CPR. I am continuously adding to my knowledge of dog and cat behavior to ensure the best for the animals I work with. Recognizing the effort your dog is putting in during leash-training is an important part of the process. When a dog is working hard to understand what you’re asking—especially during focused leash exercises—it helps to pause the walk from time to time. These short breaks let your dog relax, reset, and shift out of “work mode.” A few moments of calm affection or gentle praise show the dog they’re on the right track and that their effort is being rewarded. This balance of training and brief downtime supports better learning and keeps the experience positive for both of you. Who doesn't like some lovin? :)

While out on one of Vernon's trails, have you ever paused during a walk and wondered what your dog is trying to tell you? While dogs can’t use words, they are always communicating through posture, ears, tail, eyes, and even subtle gestures. Learning to read these signals helps you build trust, kee...

SHARE THIS POST - FAR AND WIDE.
On your personal page, your business page, in your groups, and with anyone who loves dogs.

EVERY share reaches new hearts.

I popped into The Rusty Spur Farm & Pet to pick up supplies the other day and saw these on the counter. Thanks to the gals working there for pointing them out.

I got mine. Did you get yours?

I had the chance to meet Elizabeth, the owner of Pup-n-Cup Family Cafe & Shop CCC, last week, and it was such a great chat! I love connecting with other dog pros and talking all things pup. Some of the topics we covered were training approaches, understanding dog behaviour, communication cues, and how to best support clients.

Be sure to take a look at what she’s doing with her café, the Diversity Den, and her training programs—there’s a lot of great work happening.

A bunch of local businesses, including Pawsome Walks Brigade Dog Walking, are donating services and items for her upcoming silent auction. It's good to see the community come together. 🐾 This is going to be a good event!!

Listening to Your Dog

Every dog I walk and build a relationship with starts with one thing — listening. Real communication between dog and person goes both ways.

When I first met this little lady, she barked territorialy at me and kept her distance. I had difficulty even putting a leash on her. On her early walks, she was anxious especially the farther we got from home. It was clear she had a history that shaped her reactions.

Through patience and positive reinforcement, I listened to what she was telling me — and helped her learn to listen to me in return. Over time, her confidence grew. This was a girl who happily went exploring different pathways with me. When she greeted me it was more of a WHERE are we going today ( happy face, happy body, happy mind vs oh no, where are we going today (anxious face, anxious body, threatened).

This process looks different for every dog. Some take a few weeks; others settle in after a single walk. What matters most is mutual understanding — dog and human listening to each other.

As a new dog walking business owner here in Vernon, I've been spending time in the downtown area getting to know the local shops and meeting residents. It was lovely attending the Vernon Newcomer & Friends meetup group this morning. It's amazing how many fellow dog lovers there are in this community! I know what's going to be on my Christmas shopping list. Downtown is full of great finds and new friends!

# Trail Etiquette 101 🐕🥾

Having used trail systems as a professional dog walker, hiker, cyclist and dual sport rider across North America and Europe over the years, I've seen how quickly things go wrong when people don't understand basic right-of-way rules. Here's what keeps everyone safe:

# # Right-of-Way Rules
✅ Cyclists yield to hikers/runners
✅ Everyone yields to horses
✅ Uphill travelers have priority

# # Dog Basics (when on leashed only trails)
🦮 Hikers with dogs yield to hikers without
🦮 Ask before dogs greet each other
🦮 Pack out waste—always

# # When Things Go Wrong
Dogs react to wildlife. It happens. Apologize, communicate ("She's spooked!"), and get control quickly. Most people understand!

**The Golden Rule:** Be predictable, courteous, and communicate. We all share the trails! 🌲

Buying new toys or treats for your pup always gives that little dopamine boost — it just feels good to do something nice for them, right?

Refreshing my business cards gave me that same feeling! Big thanks to Wayside for doing such a great print job 🐾💫

Stressed pup alert! Yawning and lip licking aren't just cute quirks-they're often signs your dog is feeling anxious.

That's where I come in. My structured walks build your dogs confidence and reduces stress. By the end of Rupert's walks, he was a calmer boy.

Contact me at www.pawsomewalksbrigade.com to see how adding my structured walks can help you and your dog.
