We’re grateful to Maureen McAuliff Art Gallery and Studio for once again showing support for Rideau Community Health Services and the broader community. Through the generosity of her customers, Maureen raised funds and collected non-perishable food donations in support of the Food Cupboard program.

We were also delighted to receive a beautiful original artwork capturing the charm of Merrickville — with our building included in the background — a thoughtful reflection of community connection through art!

We loved seeing the support shown through the Twinkle & Tiding Night Market fundraiser organized by ~The Dusty Magpie~. With the help of The Boathouse Cafe and a wonderful group of local makers, $337.85 was raised and donated to RCHS' Food Cupboard Program in Merrickville.

A great example of neighbours supporting neighbours — and of how coming together can make a real difference, especially at this time of year.

With heartfelt thanks…
we want to extend our gratitude for the wonderful support from our community at our
Twinkle & Tiding Night Market gift basket fundraiser.
Thank you to The Boathouse Cafe for hosting and contributing as well as all the talented makers that night who donated beautiful handmade items.
Together we raised $337.85! 💫

The donation was dropped off today at the Merrickville Food Cupboard and I saw them firsthand hard at work.
We’re deeply thankful to all who dedicate to this to ensure everyone has a warm meal at Christmas time.
Taking care of each other is what it’s all about.

We’re grateful once again for the continued partnership with the Lions Club of Merrickville for their annual Christmas Hamper program. This long-standing collaboration continues to support families across our community each holiday season.

This year, 81 Christmas hampers were prepared and shared with local families, including 49 children. Each hamper included everything needed for a Christmas dinner — from turkey and fresh produce to butter and pantry staples — and families with children also received toys to help make the season a little brighter.

Thank you to everyone involved for carrying on this tradition of care, generosity, and community spirit year after year.

A little winter magic with a meaningful message!

We want to say a big thank-you to our wonderful volunteers who painted the beautiful winter scenes on the windows of the Food Cupboard Program space. Alongside the seasonal artwork, the windows help share important information about food insecurity in our community and the vital work being done to address it.

Thank you to our volunteers pictured including Liz , Jane, and Shelley (missing from the photo Carolyn, Denise, Laurie, and Cindy) for bringing creativity, care, and visibility to this program — and for helping raise awareness of food insecurity in our communities.

Thank you to Pickle & Myrrh, The Village Bean Coffee House, and everyone who supported RCHS' Food Cupboard Program in Merrickville at the first Gingerbread University! A powerful reminder of what’s possible when a village comes together. Thank you to all 💙

❤️ Together We Can Stock the Shelves ❤️

Pickle & Myrrh and The Village Bean Coffee House is incredibly grateful to have raised $1,000 at Gingerbread University in support of the Merrickville Food Cupboard.

More people need to know just how dire the need is in our own community. The Food Cupboard serves over 100 families every month and receives zero government funding. Every single item on those shelves exists because of community initiatives and the generosity of our village.

In past years, Holiday Train donations kept shelves stocked until the end of February. This year, all donations were gone in just four hours.

This time of year is especially challenging, local farms no longer have produce to give, and every dollar and every donation truly matters. Right now, they are desperately in need of toiletries, kids’ school snacks, peanut butter, and pasta.

Please consider tagging friends, sharing this post, and donating if you can. There is a trolley just inside the Health Centre’s front doors where drop-offs can be made.

It truly takes a village, and no one in our village should go hungry.

Earlier this month, Breakfast with Santa — generously sponsored by Merrickville Legion Branch 245 — brought together over 400 community members for a truly festive morning.

We are deeply grateful that the RCHS Food Cupboard Program – Merrickville Site received a generous donation of $1,398 and 80 pounds of food, which will go directly toward supporting clients through our Client in Need Fund.

As we reflect on the season, moments like these remind us of the incredible generosity and community spirit that exists in the community.

Thank you for helping make the holiday season brighter for so many.
