Community care starts with people who choose to give back. đź’™

Marie and Michael Ferris, owners of Canadian Tire Midland and proud members of our local community, have pledged $100,000 to the GBGH Foundation’s "We See You" Campaign — and have already presented the first installment cheque of $25,000 in support of GBGH patients, families, and the incredible healthcare teams who care for us when we need it most.

Their generosity reflects a belief we share: strong local businesses and strong local health care go hand in hand. By giving back where they live and work, the Ferris family and the Canadian Tire Midland team are helping ensure compassionate, high-quality care remains close to home.

We are deeply grateful for their leadership, generosity, and commitment to local care, and for every community partner who helps make excellent care personal.

At Georgian Bay General Hospital, care isn’t just about medicine. It’s about moments like this. 💙 Moments where nurses have the right tools and patients feel seen, comforted, and supported on their journey back to health.

As we reflect on the year behind us, we’re reminded of something truly powerful. While government funding doesn’t cover hospital equipment, our community does. And because of you, care at GBGH continues to feel personal, safe, and close to home.

Thanks to generous donors, our teams have access to essential equipment — from new stretchers and portable ultrasounds to the everyday tools that help deliver excellent care with compassion.

Right now, GBGH needs 23 new medication carts to support our nurses and keep these moments of care happening every day.

✨ As the year comes to a close, consider making a gift or dedicating your donation in honour of someone you love. Your generosity helps ensure these meaningful moments continue for patients and families in our community.

Some days, the smallest gestures leave the biggest mark. A laugh, a story, a listening ear.

Today, call a friend and let them know they’re not alone. Connection is care. 💛

In October, Medical Aesthetics By Vee combined spooky-season fun with meaningful impact. Through Vee's "Scare That Hair Away" promotion, $300 was donated to the GBGH Foundation in support of the We See You campaign, helping us invest in priority medical equipment and technology across every department of the hospital.

We are so grateful to Vee for turning self-care into community care! Every thoughtful partnership like this directly supports our mission to make excellent care personal. 🥰

👉 If your business is looking for ways to give back and make a tangible difference in local health care, there are many ways to get involved through our Business Cares program. Together, we can create meaningful impact right here in our community. Reach out to learn more!

Happy Kwanzaa 🖤❤️💚

Wishing everyone celebrating a week filled with unity, reflection, and care. Just like Kwanzaa reminds us, it’s the people around us — friends, family, neighbours — who make our community strong.

We’re honoured to be part of a community grounded in connection and purpose, today and always.

The magic of the season is all around us, in every act of care and kindness. đź’•

This Christmas Eve, we’re reflecting on the generosity, compassion, and connection that surround our Foundation team all year long. To our donors, partners, staff, volunteers, and community members: thank you for helping make local care personal, and for being part of a community that truly sees people, inside and out.

Wishing you and your loved ones comfort, joy, and moments of warmth this holiday season. ✨

Happy holidays!

In memory of Celia Marie đź’•

Mike & Melissa Robinson and family delivered $13,575 from this year’s Celia’s Bake Sale to GBGH Foundation, funding a new Neonatal Vital Signs Monitor for the GBGH Birthing Unit.

Since 2020, this heartfelt initiative has raised over $51,000 in honour of their infant daughter, Celia Marie, who passed away on Christmas Day 2019.

A special thanks to all the participating businesses, GBGH staff, family, friends and neighbours who made this year's partnership event such an incredible success. Because of your support, the purchase of new vital monitoring equipment will help ensure the tiniest patients at GBGH continue to receive excellent care close to home.

Every second with a patient matters.

But aging medication carts mean our nurses need to step away more than they should — away from comfort, connection, and timely care.

On this day of giving and gratitude, you can help keep care exactly where it belongs: right at the bedside. đź’™

✨ If you’re able, consider dedicating a holiday gift in honour of someone you love. Your generosity brings new medication carts to Georgian Bay General Hospital, supporting safer care and meaningful moments all year long.

🎉 A local win and an incredible act of generosity!

Congratulations to Holly N of Waubaushene, the Split the Pot Lottery winner from October 30, who stopped by last month to pick up her cheque and celebrate an unforgettable moment. Just days after marking her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband Barry, Holly won $50,024!

After receiving her winnings, Holly made the heartfelt decision to donate $10,000 of her prize to the Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation, helping support care close to home for patients and families across our community. đź’™ We are so grateful.

Holly’s story is a powerful reminder that when you play Split the Pot, your ticket can bring joy, impact, and lasting support for local healthcare.

🎟️ Feeling inspired? Get your tickets and choose GBGH Foundation — your next win could make a difference for you and others, right here at home.

The holidays are a perfect time to slow down, gather with loved ones, and give thanks. ✨

This season, the Foundation office will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, and you may notice reduced hours in between as our small (but mighty!) team spends time with family and friends.

If you’d like to make a holiday donation while we’re closed, donations can always be dropped off at Georgian Bay General Hospital’s reception desk. Thank you for thinking of local care this season.

From all of us at the GBGH Foundation, we’re wishing you and your loved ones a warm and joyful holiday season. 💕
