I love keeping up to date with the newest treatments and clinical guidelines for managing the most common skin conditions out there.
I see many patients for cosmetic concerns and general skin rejuvenation, but no case is simple and a lot of the times, there are co-existing medical conditions in the skin that need attention before I go to the fun stuff like lasers and microneedling!
For example, it's acne management first, then I clear your dark spots! Or it's calming a rosacea flare-up, and then I tighten the skin! It's all about understanding what takes priority to end up with the best long term outcome for my patients.
I'm a physician first! 😄👩🏾‍⚕️

My consultations with new patients are a chance for me to really hear you and understand your skin goals.

Consultations are a key component to getting things right with your skin. Your skin care specialist should know your skin in and out! That's when we're really able to make a difference.

Pico lasers are my go-to for hyperpigmentation in all skin tones! The key is to know the technology and understand how different skin types respond to each laser type!

When it comes to treating acne and acne scars, I always recommend to make clearing the active acne the main priority, and then treat the dark spots and scarring. Otherwise we'll always be playing catch-up!

Lasers can be safely used on darker skin tones, but it's all about knowing the technology and understanding your patient's skin. That being said, I sometimes like to try new laser treatments on myself (or my family 😅- they're the real MVP's) before I put them into practice in my clinic.

Here, I am doing a medium depth peel with an erbium laser that targets water in the skin (not melanin!). The results are similar to chemical peels that also remove the top layer of skin. However, with my laser, I can set the exact depth of the peel down to the micrometer, meaning safer outcomes.

Condition: Male pattern hair loss

Goal of Treatment: Block hormonal effects on the hair, stimulate scalp blood flow, increase growth factors to strengthen and thicken the hair follicles.

Treatment:
💉Mesotherapy injections
😎Fotona HAIRestart laser treatments
🧴Good home scalp and hair care routine

Remember: With male pattern hair loss, treatments have to be regular to maintain the results!

Acne is one of my favorite skin conditions to treat!😄😄

The cause tends to be multi-factorial and I love the journey of figuring it out, treating the cause, and watching the acne disappear more and more every time that patient comes in!

Acne can be treated with:
▶️ Proper skin care that controls excess oil, protects the skin barrier and kills bacteria.
▶️ Chemical Peels (Salicylic acid is my fave for acne!)
▶️ Laser treatments - to kill bacteria, shrink the pores, and eliminate hyperpigmentation.

This patient's acne had a strong hormonal component, so I combined a good skin care routine, chemical peels, and prescription creams. And voila! Hormonal acne who?🧐😱

I always tell patients: 1️⃣Address the acne first, 2️⃣THEN the dark spots! So that we're not playing catch-up with every new pimple that pops up.

NEXT STEP: Picosure Pro Laser for that stubborn post-acne hyperpigmentation! 😎

For new acne consultations , I always do a thorough skin and health deep dive to get to the root cause of the acne. Then I tailor treatments and medications for that patient. No two of my patients are on the same regimen! It's got to work for their skin and their lifestyle. We fight it together!

When my patients tell me their left side has more blemishes, wrinkles, or dark spots, my first question is "How long is your commute?"
We sometimes forget all that sun exposure that we get while we're in the car. It all adds up!
So stay protected and use those visors! 😎😎😎

This is one of my favorite treatments to do because the results are so satisfying!

Treatment: DPN Removal
Recovery: 5-8 days
Results: No more spots!

DPN (Dermatosis papulosa nigra) are benign dark raised spots that tend to appear on sun-exposed areas like the face, neck, and chest.
They are more common in darker skin tones and there can be a genetic component.
One of the best ways to prevent new ones is with regular sunscreen use!

I love a good skin tightening treatment!

For this lovely lady, I used RF microneedling and laser to stimulate new collagen formation, get rid of unwanted jowl fat, smooth out the jawline contours, tighten the skin under her neck, and give an overall more snatched look!

Her results will continue to improve over the next few months as more healthy collagen forms.

Treatment: A customized combination of RF microneedling and laser collagen stimulation.
