😊I'm going to dive right into our skin talk with what I think is THE most important factor when it comes to skin health. I'll give you a hint.... it's also key in gut health....?
Your gut microbiome!!!!
Did you know that good bacteria not only aids in digestion but also in the health of your skin?🦠
You could treat a breakout topically with expensive creams, ointments, serums, and facials. And it may work, but if you don't fix the root cause it's bound to happen again....and again...and again. 🤦🏽♀️
💆🏽♀️When you glow from the inside, it will show on the outside as well. Don't forget that skin is our largest organ and is interconnected with every other system in our body.
🤺Skin is designed to be a natural barrier. Meaning it is meant to keep things out of our body- physical damage, pollution, toxins, chemicals, UV radiation. What that also means is that it is not well equipped to absorb nutrients that are applied topically. Instead, our skin must get the bulk of its nutrition from the foods we eat.
😖But if your gut health is poor (leaky gut, indigestion, low stomach acid etc), you can't be expected to be able to absorb the nutrients you need to nourish your skin.
I always tell my clients that skin complaints like; red rashes, acne, eczema, and dry skin is your body's way of trying to get your attention.⚠ It's trying to tell you something. The question is, are you willing to listen?
The wrong foods can disrupt your gut microbiome and compromise your overall health. Things like alcohol, caffeine, and sugar are the biggest offenders.
But it's not that easy. Food sensitivities, allergies, and other foods that may cause an immune response (different foods affect different people differently) can trigger inflammation in the body- the result of which may be seen directly on the skin.
But how do you figure out what you may be sensitive to? How do you know what to remove from your diet? Maybe it's time for a little reset?🤔
Which is exactly what we'll be discussing tomorrow! 🙌🏾
