Social Skills Group – Beginning March 29

Our 6-week Social Skills Group is designed for children ages 7–9 and 10–12 who may benefit from targeted, evidence-informed support in areas such as social communication, peer interaction, emotional regulation, and confidence-building. Groups are facilitated by registered clinicians in a structured, developmentally appropriate, and supportive therapeutic environment.

🎉Welcome to the Team, Carina Hetherton! 🎉
Carina (she/her) is a Clinical Intern pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, and is available to work with children (7+), adolescents, adults, and couples. She offers compassionate, evidence-based care that balances structure with flexibility. With a strong background supporting neurodivergent individuals, Carina has extensive experience working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), including individuals who are newly diagnosed and navigating executive functioning challenges.
Carina integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients build psychological flexibility and move toward values-driven living.
Known for her creative and flexible blending of therapeutic approaches, Carina helps clients “connect the dots” between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and life experiences in a way that feels accessible, empowering, and meaningful.
Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression and low mood, self-esteem, life transitions, motivation, boundary setting, emotional regulation, stress management, social-skills development, brief solution-focused problem solving, and family systems.
Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded, with well-timed humour used intentionally to foster connection, ease tension, and create a relaxed and engaging therapeutic environment. Carina is approachable, playful, and genuine. She brings her happy, relaxed personality into her work while maintaining strong clinical integrity, believing that healing can be both effective and human.

If you are the parent of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, The Ironwood Project welcomes you this Saturday for a free workshop on how to support your child and yourself. This workshop will be hosted by Jana Venditti, a registered social worker, psychotherapist specializing in this type of trauma.

Teens are invited to join group facilitator Jana Venditti, Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist from Milton Psychotherapy Centre for an opportunity to learn about healing, understanding the impact of trauma, and building skills for safety and self-compassion.

Jana brings over twenty years of experience supporting individuals and families, with specialties in trauma recovery, sexual abuse treatment, anxiety, and depression.

This is a long overdue welcome to our newest Front Desk, Administrative Assistant, Olive Khalighi, who joined our team in July. She has been a familiar face at our clinic since our opening, helping with the interior design of many features on site, including our annual themed Christmas trees.
Olive is an aspiring psychotherapist and has been a wonderful addition to our Admin team.
