Dear Friends and Community Members,

As the holidays approach, we’re excited to share a meaningful way to support our community by helping fund essential pro bono care for families experiencing pregnancy or infant loss.

Beatrice, an Indigenous Full-Spectrum Doula-in-training, has partnered with Homegrown Local Grocer to host a ready-made meal fundraiser supporting her pro bono loss services.

What You Can Order: freezer meals, salads, and muffins
Where to Order: www.homegrownlocalgrocer.ca/growing-nests-fundraiser

Every purchase directly supports families navigating miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, or neonatal loss, ensuring they receive the care and resources they need.

With winter weather on the way, we want to share a few reminders to help keep everyone safe.

Please ensure your laneway is plowed and accessible for our visits. During severe weather, both clinic and home appointments may need to be rescheduled.

For births, there may also be times when the midwife closest to you will attend instead of your usual midwife, to ensure the safest and fastest response.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep both clients and midwives safe during winter conditions.

Posted • At the OBWC, we believe birth is sacred. Reclaiming Indigenous birth sovereignty is essential to healing.
We remind ourselves that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action affirm the right to culturally safe, community-led care rooted in Indigenous knowledge. This must include restoring Indigenous midwifery, traditional birth practices, and access to Elders and healers—so every birth can honour culture, language, and community. Every child matters. Every birth matters.
