This is page 113 of Eyes On The Road—it’s one of the last pages that I wrote before submitting my manuscript. I wrote it while I was thinking about all of the moments when it would have been “the right time” to pivot away from my career as a writer (and how thankful I am that I never did).

It might have made sense for me to step away from writing after I got burnt out and shut down the music blog that I put seven years of my life into building.

It might have made more sense for me to step away from writing after I pitched 24 different publications during one summer and didn’t get a single article published.

It might have made more sense for me to step away from writing during the month-long periods of writer’s block that contributed to my depression.

But I’m still here—and I’m glad that I am. I don’t always know what keeps me going—but I know that it’s what I’m supposed to do.

Writing is one of my gifts. Writing isn’t always easy for me, but it I will always be a part of who I am.

The thing I’ve grown to understand about gifts: just because you’re talented at something doesn’t mean that it’ll always come easy to you.

You were given your gifts to use them and develop them in pursuit of a higher purpose—not to use them as crutches.

Gifts aren’t just talents that you can fall back on, they’re tools that you can use to build an incredible life and a lasting legacy—and building something bigger than yourself will require you to take risks, move against the current of popular opinion, and put yourself out there time, after time, after time.

I hope you embrace this opportunity. I hope that your gifts inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and towards your calling. I hope that you get so clear on your gifts that complacency doesn’t even feel like an option.

Good evening! I'm going to be working on a website soon to book virtual clients for on the phone or on zoom, and a new email will be up soon as well to contact me. This page is currently under construction. Thank you for understanding! 😊

Mental Health Reminder

Sometimes, we need to mourn the loss of what we didn't have but deserve in order to move on and create the space to heal and flourish.

Find time ✨

Life is busy and you probably have a lot on our plate. 🍽

From work, to family, to life responsibilities, not to mention trying to find time to take care of yourself… it can all feel like TOO much sometimes.

When we are busy, doing things that you enjoy doing, like painting, or playing a sport, or reading a book tend to fall to the bottom of your priorities list - BUT I am here today to make the case for why this wont help. 🙅🏻‍♀️

When you find time to do the thing you LOVE to do, the things that light you up inside and make you feel ALIVE - you are filling up your tank so you have the energy needed to do all of those other very important tasks.

Meaningful leisure engagement is shown to have profound positive affects on our well-being, which has a carry over affect in other areas of our lives.

On the other hand, when we neglect to slow down and have fun or relax, we run and run until we are on empty. When we do this, we have few opportunities for fun and we move through life with little passion or excitement.

Let’s not do this on 2023!!

So how can we find time? The best part is, finding this time doesn’t have to be a huge thing!

Finding 10 minutes to read before bed instead of scrolling on your phone, spending your lunch break going for a walk in nature, or waking up 30 minutes earlier to pursue a passion project that lights you up os enough to make a dramatic impact on your well-being.

Take a deep breath - it can all be overwhelming sometimes I know. But life is meant to be lived.

You deserve a life full of beauty, creativity and FLOW. 🌊

Why not make it a priority today to find time for the things that make you feel alive?!

➡️ How will you prioritizes activities that make you feel alive this week? 💕

You can take a dip at most Durham beaches this weekend. After another week of water testing by the health department, four are considered unsafe for swimming
