Summer bod ✨

This is my summer bod this year. My postpartum bod. My MOM bod. And I’m damn proud of it!

You know what doesn’t matter? The size of my clothes or my waist. The way my skin folds when I bend over. The stretch marks where my body extended itself to make room for another.

You know what does matter? The strength of my arms that allow me to carry my daughter. The determination to find time in a busy day to come to my mat. The SMILE on my face when I get to be outdoors.

I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something about summertime that makes me stop giving a s**t about what my body LOOKS like and makes me focus on what I am capable of and how I FEEL.

This is your encouragement to stop giving a s**t what you LOOK like - bust out the crop tops and bucket hats and live the life that makes you happiest! ☀️

Summer solstice ✨

Today marks the first day of Summer & International Yoga Day - aka one of my favourite days of the year!!

What better way to celebrate than with a yoga class on one of my favourite beaches? And the best part was that I got to be a student this time around!

It has been a LONG time since I came to my mat with someone else leading my practice, and it was SO refreshing! I don’t get a lot of chances to completely turn my brain off these days and just flow with the guidance of someone else and the sound of the waves. It was just what I needed!

Thanks to for a great class - they’ll be teaching at Conrad’s Beach every Wednesday from 7-8pm all summer long, highly recommend checking them out!

Finding balance ✨

I love getting out on my paddle board to practice yoga, as it adds a new element of challenge to my practice - not only physically, but mentally too.

I find having to focus my attention on striking a balance to keep the board from tipping keeps my wandering thoughts in check. I also find it changes my focus from arriving at my “peak poses” and instead makes me focus on the quality of my more “basic” poses - really paying attention to where I am holding tension and where I can release to bring ease into a more challenging foundation to make me feel stronger overall.

And most of all, I love it because I get to dip my toes in the water after a long, hot day. I get to paddle alongside the ducklings and watch the fish splash beside me. I get to paddle against the current and let it effortlessly take me back down stream. And I get to get side tracked and abandon my plan all together for a much needed paddle out on the lake!

Spring is here ✨

It feels SO good to feel the sunshine on our skin again!

It’s no secret that the outdoors is my favourite spot to practice yoga. Soaking up the sun and all the sounds of nature. It really adds to the relaxation of it all.

Growing up, we were always taught the the best room in the house was outside, and I really hope my daughter grows up feeling that way too.

Here’s hoping you can get outside to enjoy the sunshine today!

Body positivity ✨

I think it’s safe to say that everyone has struggled with their image at one time or another - in a society filled with diet culture and unrealistic filtered “beauty” standards it’s hard not to let it get to you.

That’s why I want to instill body positivity with my daughter from the very beginning. Teaching her to love her body from her head to her toes. Teaching her to love how strong her legs are. Teaching her how smart her brain is. Teaching her to love how her eyes light up when she laughs. Teaching her to love her self unconditionally and unapologetically.

And while teaching her, it also serves as a great reminder for myself. So I wanted to share this song to serve as a reminder for you as well.

You are perfect just the way you are. Love yourself unconditionally and unapologetically.

Make the time ✨

Life is BUSY! But it’s important to make the time to do what makes you feel good.

Whether that’s coming to your mat and stretching, going for a walk or run, or doing an intense workout.

Maybe it’s taking time to cook yourself a good meal to nourish your body, or curling up and reading a good book.

Maybe it’s just making the time to take a shower or brush your hair.

Don’t let the to-do list take over your day, and make sure you squeeze in at least 5 minutes of what makes you feel good!

Me & you, kid ✨

I had my follow up physio appointment on Monday and have added some new stretches and strength training exercises into my recovery routine.

I focused on engaging my pelvic floor and my lower abdomen, and little one focused on practicing her rolls and shimmying across the mat.

I love coming to our mats and sharing movement together. Now time to get outside and enjoy the glorious weather!
