Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is a simple step you can take to protect yourself and others around you from the virus, and help BC return to a more normal way of life.

In a recent press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry spoke about the impact COVID-19 has had on pregnant unvaccinated patients, and urged pregnant British Columbians who have not been vaccinated, to make that call and register for their first dose.

If you or someone you know is hesitant about the COVID-19 vaccine, check out the below article that answers common questions many people have about getting immunized.

โ€ฃ Being infected with COVID-19 can make you very sick. It may make you even sicker if you are pregnant
โ€ฃ COVID-19 vaccines are very effective in preventing people from getting sick with COVID-19
โ€ฃ Vaccines are safe and cannot give you COVID-19

If you are at higher risk of exposure to COVID-19, a vaccine can help protect you from getting sick with COVID-19 and may reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 to others.

The vaccine helps your body to produce antibodies that will protect you from getting sick if you are exposed to COVID-19. These protective antibodies pass into your milk and may also protect your child from infection.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) recommends vaccination because it reduces the likelihood of getting COVID-19.

Talk to your doctor to learn more about the vaccine and what options you have available.
