As we mark Remembrance Day, Sageview Health pauses to recognize the many sacrifices made by those who have and those who continue to serve our country. We remind those in the Veteran and Military community to remember that mental health support is available through VAC Assistance Service. For immediate support, call 1-800-268-7708.

At Sageview Health, we believe that emotional well-being starts at home. Families are powerful agents of healing — and when we understand emotions rather than avoid them, connection and growth can flourish.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re highlighting Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) — an approach that helps parents and caregivers support their loved ones with compassion and confidence.

🌱 EFFT teaches families to:

Validate emotions rather than fix them

Respond to distress with empathy

Build stronger, more supportive relationships

We also offer Emotion-Focused Parenting Skills Workshops, where caregivers learn these principles in a hands-on, supportive setting.

Let’s work together to build homes and communities where emotional understanding leads to lasting wellness.

Every year, more than 700, 000 people die by suicide worldwide. September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day is a time for us to reflect, educate, and join a collective effort to reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health.

At Sageview Health, we believe that:

Talking about suicide reduces shame and isolation

Education challenges misinformation and builds resilience

Mental health support should be visible, accessible, and valued across all stages of life

💡 It’s important to remember that suicide affects people of all ages.

Teens may struggle with identity, academic stress, or social pressures

Seniors may face loneliness, grief, or changes in independence

☎️ If you need urgent support:

Suicide Crisis Helpline: 988

Kids Help Phone: 1-800-668-6868 or text CONNECT to 686868

Hope for Wellness (for Indigenous Peoples): 1-855-242-3310
🚨 In an emergency, call 911

🌱 Let’s work together to reduce stigma, build community, and remind each other that hope is possible.

🎒Back to school blues—or something more?
Feeling low, unmotivated, or stuck in a fog that won't lift? You might be dealing with depression—and you're not alone.

As routines shift this August, it’s important to check in with your mental health. If your low mood has lasted more than two weeks, it could be time to reach out.

💡Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective treatments for depression. It helps you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns—and reclaim your energy and joy.

At Sageview Health, our trained clinicians are here to support you with evidence-based, compassionate care.

🧠 You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable.

Anticipation of “Back to School” and “getting back to routine” can bring up mixed feelings of excitement, eagerness, and worry for kids and parents. For some, back to school can be anxiety provoking. While it’s important to soak up every last bit of summer, getting ourselves prepared for the new school year can help make the transition smoother. Remember that it is completely normal for your child to feel some anxiety about school. Acknowledging this worry if your child expresses it will be far more helpful than telling them there’s nothing to worry about. Trying out these tips might help calm the jitters, and make you and your child feel more prepared for the coming school year.

The summer months are filled with BBQ’s, pool parties, summer camps and family vacations, but did you know that it can also be a great time to start therapy for your child? The summer months mean fewer school stressors, which can allow children to prioritize and focus on therapy and to work on the strategies they need to thrive.

Starting therapy in summer can help children and families prepare for school changes and new challenges. It can also give kids the coping skills that they may not have had the previous year. A psychologist can provide parents with recommendations for teachers before the school year even begins.
