Neurotoxins: What Most People Get Wrong
One of the biggest misconceptions about neurotoxins like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin is that they work instantly—and then suddenly “wear off.”
In reality, the process is much more gradual and controlled.
After treatment, results don’t appear overnight. The product begins to take effect within a few days, with full results typically developing around the 10–14 day mark. This is when muscle activity is optimally softened and lines appear smoother at rest.
Just as importantly, neurotoxins don’t abruptly stop working. They slowly and subtly wear off over time. Muscle movement gradually returns, not all at once, which is why you may first notice a slight increase in expression before lines fully reappear.
Think of it less like a switch turning on and off—
and more like a dimmer that gently fades in… and gradually fades out.
Understanding this timeline helps set realistic expectations and allows us to time treatments strategically—so results remain natural, consistent, and never overdone.
