This June 7, Bailey Griffin, Director of Strategy at Trillium Health Partners will lace up her shoes at Port Credit Memorial Park in Mississauga for Trillium Health Partners’ fifth annual Hazel McCallion Walk for Health.

Last year, her colleagues in communications and strategy enthusiastically encouraged her to join their department’s team, called Keep Comm and Strat On, as the team co-lead.

Bailey joined them for the walk and brought her family, including her four-year-old.

“It wasn’t just a little walk,” she recalls. “It was so much more than that. It was amazing—so heartwarming, so engaging for the community.”

When families walk together, when neighbours donate $25 or $50, when hospital staff rally their networks, they become partners in the hospital’s future.

“A part of this belongs to you,” Bailey says. “We all have a vested interest in what we’re trying to build here.”

The same goes for staff. Bailey remains impressed by her colleagues’ dedication to philanthropy and volunteering.

“We’ve built a culture of giving into what we do,” she says. “[Into] all of these moments where the community and staff come together around a shared purpose.”

Her advice to anyone considering fundraising this year is simple: Don’t underestimate your network.

“Everybody wants to support this cause,” she says. “You shouldn’t be bashful in reaching out, whether it’s LinkedIn, friends, family. It’s something everyone can get behind.”

In the fall of 2025, three-year-old Franco was diagnosed with a rare 9-centimetre tumour – Stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma.

One of the hospitals his family chose was Trillium Health Partners’ Credit Valley Hospital, which features a regional cancer specialty program and enables Lorenza and her family to access treatment close to home. “It kept me away from the traffic of downtown Toronto,” she says.

Following his initial diagnosis, Franco is set to undergo 18 months of treatment. “He will celebrate his fourth birthday this March in the hospital,” says Lorenza.

Franco’s care is split between two hospitals. At Trillium Health Partners, he undergoes bloodwork and receives treatment when he has a fever.

“Credit Valley Hospital is a place where they make you feel like a patient instead of a number. . .They were just like family,” says Lorenza.

A highlight for Franco during his stay at Credit Valley Hospital’s Paediatric Patient Care Unit was when his nurse arranged for a police officer to visit him. “He deserved something special, and he loves police officers,” says Lorenza.

When the police officer arrived, he brought toys. “Franco was very happy,” says Lorenza.

Over Christmas, staff at Trillium Health Partners gave Franco and his two sisters each a teddy bear – gifts enabled through the generosity of Trillium Health Partners Foundation’s monthly donor base. “The staff made Franco feel like a special guy,” Lorenza says. “He was so happy that he and his sisters had something special to play with together.”

In the ICU, many patients are too sick to eat. Our Registered Dietitians create personalized tube‑feeding plans — choosing the right formula, making sure the feeding is working well for the patient, and adjusting as needs change.

By combining technology with clinical expertise, our Registered Dietitians work with the ICU team to help patients get the nutrition they need to heal and regain strength. It’s one way we deliver world‑class care, close to home.

What does the future of health care look like? At Trillium Health Partners, it looks like 950 private rooms and floor-to-ceiling windows designed specifically to improve patient outcomes.

In our new hospital — The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, and The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre — design is a form of medicine.

Dr. Jason Kerr, Division Head of Geriatrics at Trillium Health Partners, in a recent interview with CP24 Toronto's Breaking News explains that natural light and private spaces are key to preventing delirium and helping patients maintain their dignity and cognitive function during their stay.

This ‘healing by design’ approach is a direct response to the needs of our community, where the seniors population is expected to grow by 133 per cent by 2041.

Did you lose an hour of sleep this weekend? 🕒

For many, it was just a groggy Monday — but for hospitalized older adults, the shift in light can trigger delirium, a sudden and serious change in brain function.

This World Sleep Day, we’re highlighting how Trillium Health Partners is moving beyond treating delirium and working to prevent it.

As home to Canada’s largest geriatric medicine program, our team is using:
🔹 AI-enabled tools to predict delirium before it starts.
🔹 Specialized care teams to support vulnerable patients.
🔹 Purpose-built hospital design to ensure every patient has access to natural light.

When we build the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, every one of the 950 private rooms will feature floor-to-ceiling windows to help patients stay connected to the natural day-night cycle.

About THP

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is one of the largest community-based hospital systems in Canada. Composed of the Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, Queensway Health Centre and satellite sites, THP serves the growing and diverse populations of Mississauga, West Toronto and surrounding communities. THP is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and is an associate member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network.

A new kind of health care for a healthier community

It is about supporting body, mind and spirit. It is by working together that we have the power to achieve our mission. Together, we envision a hospital that is part of an inclusive and interconnected system that addresses the health needs of the community, inside and outside the hospital walls.

We believe that we are #BetterTogetherTHP; When we work together there is no limit to what we can achieve.
