CHUÔNG – NGƯỜI BẠN ĐỒNG HÀNH
THE BOWLS – A COMPANION
(English version below)

More than 5 years ago, I brought my singing bowls on a trip to Da Lat with my girlfriends for the very first time.

After a long night of chatting, one couldn’t sleep, another said she had insomnia, someone else felt completely drained. So I invited them to lie down while I played the bowls. And then they all said: “Oh… this feels so nice. I feel so much better.”

Since then, the bowls have been with me on every journey, in everyday life, on family trips, and even… on mountain hikes.

This video shows how I use the bowls daily, gently and simply. For me, sometimes, that’s already more than enough.

SMALL THINGS… THAT SHIFT MORE THAN WE THINK

Friends often ask me to write more about singing bowls. The truth is, I work with them every day — just not through words, but by playing them for the people who need them.

So today, I’d like to share a few small stories.

There are days when the body just feels a little off — a slight cold, a bit of fatigue, nothing serious… but enough to feel uncomfortable.

My son had one of those days. He tried medication first, but the next day he felt worse and had to leave school early — even though he had something important to attend that evening.

So he lay down for a while and listened to the bowls. He fell into a deep sleep. Later that day, he still made it to his event — no more sniffles, no more complaints.

Another time, someone had a painful mouth ulcer for days. Eating hurt. Talking hurt.

After a session, we sat and talked… and at some point, they simply forgot about the pain.

There was also a case of a swollen, irritated eye just a few days before going on stage. We tried a session. “It feels less uncomfortable,” he said.

Two days later, it had reduced.
By the third day, it was gone.
“That’s… kind of amazing.” - He said.

There are many small stories like this. And they continue to happen quietly, in different ways.

I don’t usually describe singing bowls as something that “treat” or “heal” specific conditions. But I do notice this:

When someone is willing to pause — even for a short moment —
to lie down,
to listen,
to allow the body to settle…

something often begins to shift.

Not in a dramatic way.
But enough.

Enough for the body to feel lighter.
Enough for the day to unfold differently.

Over time, I’ve come to feel that the quality of our lives is not only shaped by big changes, but also by these small, almost unnoticeable moments when the body feels just a little more at ease.

And sometimes…
that is already enough.

SOMETIMES, THE DEPEST SHIFTS HAPPEN IN STILLNESS

There are moments that are hard to explain — a gentle touch, a quiet presence… and something within begins to settle.

After being played and blessed, each singing bowl seems to carry a different depth. Or perhaps, it is simply the way we listen that has changed.

Not everything needs to be understood. Sometimes, it is enough to pause, to be still, and to allow each thing to quietly reveal itself.

LISTENING TO THE SINGING BOWL

Gently settle into stillness,
Returning to this very moment.
As the singing bowl resounds in awakening,
Each thing quietly reveals itself.

Each time the striker meets the bowl,
Awareness is instantly present.
Listening without distinction,
The sound arises… and fades.

There is no one playing the bowl,
No one listening to the bowl.
Only awareness revealing itself —
As playing, as hearing.

The one who plays is also hearing,
The one who hears is also playing.
The sound is impermanent,
Yet beyond all space.

Illness arises, then passes,
Like dust upon a clear mirror.
The body may fall into sickness,
But awareness is never ill.

The bowl resounds in wakefulness,
Awareness remains unchanged.
The mind rests in quiet stillness…
And the illness softly leaves the body.

Grateful 🙏🙏🙏

A SMALL STORY FROM A RECENT 1:1 SESSION…

She first came to experience the sound.
Then she returned—wanting to learn.

She is a massage therapist, integrating acupuncture into her work. She shared that her clients really resonated with the bowl … and she could feel the difference in her treatments.

She asked me, “Can I learn right away? I have clients who need this.”

And just like that, we began. Not from a plan—just from a moment that felt right.

Sometimes, the body does not need more pressure… it simply needs the right vibration.

If you feel called, you are warmly invited to experience, learn, or gently bring this practice into your own work.

A heartfelt thank you to Giang Phan and Vy Vy. Tara Harmony was honored to be invited as one of the speakers at the meaningful workshop “TOUCH – The Breath that Connects Body & Soul.”

Together, we explored conscious breathing through shared yoga practices, reconnected with body and mind, and gently touched a sense of inner peace.

Tears were shed after the singing bowl meditation — moments of deep relaxation, reflection, emotional release, and sincere sharing made this experience truly special.

Health and peace belong to everyone, and we’re grateful to continue creating these healing spaces — one breath at a time.

TARA HARMONY AT MCMASTER UNIVERSITY

In January, TARA HARMONY had the honor of being a guest facilitator for the “Introduction to Expressive Art Therapy” class at McMaster University.

Student explored the Himalayan singing bowls, learning about their principles, benefits, and experiencing them in various ways. The session concluded with a sound bath meditation, leaving participants feeling relaxed, inspired, and deeply connected.

Students described the experience as “phenomenal”.
