Canadian Phlebotomy Technicians Group Inc. is pleased to provide an update on the Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) and the CIP code for Phlebotomy Technicians
We’re happy to confirm that CIP code 51.1009 (Phlebotomy Technician) is still eligible under the PGWP field of study requirements. In addition, the PGWP field of study list is frozen for 2026, meaning no new eligible fields will be added or removed during this period.
For international students, this is fantastic news, as it ensures there is a clear and supported pathway to stay and work in Canada after graduation. We are actively working with our partners and affiliated colleges to create more opportunities for international students in the phlebotomy field, helping bridge the gap between education and career in Canada's growing healthcare sector.
