It’s 11pm and you’re lying in bed replaying every parenting moment from today, convinced you’re failing and now guilt is writing a list of all the ways you came up short.

Mom guilt operates on a brutal lie - that you’re not doing enough, being enough, giving enough. That other moms have figured out some secret you’re missing. That your kids would be better off if you were just... different.

None of that is true.

Your kids don’t need the Pinterest mom or the Instagram mom or the mom who does everything perfectly. They need YOU.

Mom guilt wants you to believe that constant self-punishment equals good parenting. It doesn’t.
It just means you’re running on empty while teaching your kids to do the same.

Swipe if you’re ready to stop letting guilt steal your presence. 💚

The temperature drops and suddenly everyone’s either desperately swiping right or breaking up with their college boyfriend. Coincidence? Not quite.

There’s actual science behind why November turns us all into relationship chaos agents. Your serotonin drops with the sunlight. Your body craves warmth and connection. Cultural pressure peaks. And suddenly you’re making life-altering relationship decisions based on... what exactly?

Here’s the thing nobody talks about: whether you’re frantically seeking someone or abruptly leaving someone, you might be running from the same thing - yourself.

Before you cuff up to avoid awkward family questions or dump someone to dodge holiday commitment, ask yourself: Am I making this choice from clarity, or am I just reacting to shorter days and seasonal anxiety? And if you need help thinking about these questions, reach out to us at 437-434-1113 or at support@mississaugapsychotherapycentre.ca to book a consult. Because we got you, no matter what time of year it is.

That feeling when you can’t tell if you’re cold or anxious?

Yeah, we need to talk about that.

There’s something about this time of year that makes anxiety harder to recognize. We blame the weather, the early darkness, holiday stress, being tired. And sure, those things are real but they’re also the perfect cover for anxiety to move in unnoticed.

Here’s what no one tells you: anxiety is incredibly good at disguise. It’ll convince you it’s just stress. Just exhaustion. Just “the way things are right now.” Meanwhile, your body is screaming in a language you haven’t learned to understand yet.

So before you dive headfirst into holiday chaos, family obligations, and end-of-year pressure - pause. Check in. Ask yourself the questions most people are too busy (or too scared) to ask. Because recognizing anxiety isn’t about labeling yourself or admitting defeat. It’s about finally understanding why you’ve been feeling “off” and doing something about it before you hit empty.

Drop a 🍂 if you’re committing to one honest check-in with yourself this week.

That little device in your pocket is doing more than you think.

We talk about screen time like it’s just a number. But what we don’t talk about enough is what’s happening underneath - the constant state of alert, the comparison loop, the way your nervous system never quite gets to rest.

You’re not addicted. You’re not weak. Your brain is doing exactly what it was designed to do when faced with infinite stimulation and carefully engineered engagement algorithms.

The question isn’t “should I delete all my apps forever?” It’s “am I using my phone, or is my phone using me?”
Try the 24-hour reset this week. Not as punishment, but as an experiment. See what your mind does when it’s not constantly being fed digital content. You might rediscover parts of yourself you forgot were there.
Technology isn’t the enemy - but unconscious consumption might be stealing more from you than you realize.

What’s one small boundary you could set with your phone this week?

There’s a difference between burning out and consciously choosing to pace yourself. Between collapsing from exhaustion and intentionally hitting pause before you reach that point.

We’ve somehow convinced ourselves that rest needs to be earned, that boundaries are selfish, that doing less means we’re falling behind. But your body has been trying to tell you something and it’s worth listening.
What if this week, instead of powering through, you checked in with yourself first? Asked “what do I actually have capacity for today?” and then honored that answer without guilt.

Slowing down on purpose isn’t a luxury. It’s how you sustain yourself for the long run.

🍂 September sneaks up with sharpened pencils, new routines, and… a lot of hidden stress.

Even if you’re not going “back to school,” this season has a way of stirring old anxieties: Will I keep up? Am I doing enough? Why does this feel so heavy?

The truth is, transitions are hard, for kids, parents, and adults alike. But stress during change isn’t a failure… it’s human.

This fall, try asking yourself:

What do I need to feel supported in this transition?
Where can I offer myself grace instead of pressure?

You don’t have to carry September alone. Therapy can be the pause button in the middle of the rush.
