Luso extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone that joined us at our Taste of Portugal Experience, held on November 14th at the Pearson Convention Center — presented by Comunidades Portuguesas & Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros de Portugal The Consul General of Portugal to Toronto, Dra. Ana Luísa Riquito, was warmly welcomed and shared heartfelt words in support of Luso and the individuals with special needs we proudly serve.

Guests enjoyed an extraordinary celebration of Portuguese culture, highlighted by premium wine tastings from DOC Wine Imports, BCB Luso Inc., Davenport & Vista, and 351 Imports, delicious Portuguese cuisine, and vibrant entertainment throughout the night. In memory of a great evening, attendees left with a souvenir wine tasting glass, courtesy of i-Squared Developments.

A special thank-you to our many talented performers — Carlos & Armando Janeiro, Luso-Can Tuna and Jessica Amaro— for bringing the music of Portugal to life. Plus, the Rancho Provincias E Ilhas De Portugal folklore group, showcased the traditional costumes, music, and dance for all to enjoy.

Associação Migrante De Barcelos Community Centre em Toronto featured pieces from the Expressions of Barcelos – Art & Creativity Exhibit, highlighting the beauty of Portuguese tradition, and craftsmanship for guests to admire.

A sincere thank you to our special guests, mercado vendors, media, volunteers, and all our generous guests and sponsors. Your support helps raise vital awareness for Luso’s Residential Project— and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals living with disabilities. Together, we celebrated culture, community, and compassion.

Our participants from Luso Support Centre Peel and Toronto had an amazing time recently on their community outings, thanks to our community partners Rama Gaming House in Mississauga and the Dolphin Gaming House in Scarborough.

Peel participants enjoyed a fun-filled day at Woodbine Fantasy Fair, where laughter, games, and gentle rides created unforgettable memories. Over at Luso Toronto, participants explored the fascinating world of reptiles during their visit to Reptilia Zoo—a thrilling, hands-on experience meeting and learning about amazing creatures up close!

A heartfelt thank-you to our wonderful community partners, the Rama Gaming House and the Dolphin Gaming House, for their continued support through . Thanks to these contributions, Luso can continue providing meaningful, inclusive experiences that promote connection, confidence, and joy for individuals of all abilities. Here’s to many more memorable adventures!

🌺Today, we pause to remember and reflect on the courage and sacrifice of the many that served our country. Their commitment to protecting our freedoms continues to guide and inspire us, ongoing.

Across our Luso Centres, participants have created meaningful poppy-themed artwork to honour Canada’s history and the many lives touched by service. Their creativity is a reminder of why remembrance matters-so that the stories, values, and lessons of the past continue to live on.

As we mark 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲, let us honour their legacy, express our gratitude, and carry forward the spirit of peace and unity.🌺

🎃 Halloween Fun at Luso! 👻 Luso’s Support Centres were filled with spooky spirit today as participants and staff celebrated Halloween in style! From creative costumes and familiar ensembles to pumpkin decorating, games, music, festive treats, and more, everyone enjoyed a delightfully frightful time together!

Luso extends heartfelt congratulations to AnaBela Taborda , on receiving the prestigious Medal of Merit of the Portuguese Communities (Medalha de Mérito das Comunidades Portuguesas) from the Portuguese Government this past Saturday.

AnaBela is a dedicated Luso supporter, an outstanding member of the Portuguese Canadian community, and this award recognizes and celebrates her remarkable achievements and ongoing commitment to the Portuguese community within Little Portugal, Toronto and across the GTA.

Congratulations, AnaBela! We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved honour with you.

Last week, Luso acknowledged Canadian Down Syndrome Week, celebrating inclusion, diversity, and the incredible contributions of people with Down syndrome across Canada.

This important week reminds us that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive, belong, and be recognized for their unique strengths and talents, regardless of ability.

Through Luso’s Day Programs, participants flourish in a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment carefully designed to meet the unique needs of persons with disabilities.

Together, we can continue to build a more inclusive and compassionate community.
