Meet Jennifer Tasca, our Manager of Fundraising Events.

After losing her mom, hospice care became deeply personal. She now channels that experience into creating meaningful events that turn community generosity into compassionate support for individuals and families facing serious illness, end of life, and grief.

"Over the last year, no two days have looked the same. Working with caring companies to align their business needs with supporting hospice is a key part of my role and so fulfilling when we get to make this alignment. I find joy in working with our amazing volunteers to connect community, build engaging events and bring them to life. Working in Hospice gives me a way to honour and remember my mother as well who I lost far too soon. The year is shaping up to be an incredible year for Hospice Mississauga and I encourage everyone to join the moment by attending an event."

Walk for Hospice is the easiest way to get some important physical activity while helping raise vital funds for your local Hospice that relies on 50% of its funding from community support.

Last year the community rallied to raise $78,000 in our first year of the event and this year we have set our goal at $125,000! This amount will support 688 of the 1400+ people we support each year with specialized grief and bereavement support each year!

On Friday, February 13, Hospice Mississauga’s Children & Youth Counsellors had the privilege of joining the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board’s Professional Development Day to share learning with support staff.

The morning was focused on Hospice Mississauga presenting, and after lunch the group participated in a hands-on activity where they created one of our quick “go-to” tools (a self-care spinner).

Our presentation, “Clinical Considerations & Best Practices When Supporting Students Through Grief,” focused on practical ways to recognize grief, respond with confidence, and connect students to the right supports.

A heartfelt thank you to Sarah Drudge, Laura Jin, and Anna Lewyckyj for representing Hospice Mississauga and our HUUG program, and to Pina Grosso, Christiane Kyte, Christa Wigglesworth, and Andrea Seymore for the invitation and for the wonderful partnership we continue to build together.

It was so nice to see how engaged everyone was. They asked lots of great questions, and a lot of interest in the resources we shared.
