As we honor Black History Month, we recognize that Black history is not confined to the past—it lives in the resilience, contributions, and leadership of Black communities today. This month, and every month, we commit to amplifying Black voices, celebrating Black excellence, and confronting the systemic inequities rooted in colonialism and anti-Black racism.
True equity requires more than reflection; it demands action. We stand in solidarity with Black communities, acknowledging the ongoing struggles against oppression while uplifting stories of resistance, achievement, and joy.
Let’s move beyond performative gestures. Let’s listen, learn, unlearn, and actively work towards justice, equity, and liberation. Black history is Canadian history!
