Goals in ABA therapy should be collaboratively approached and continuously assessed for their impact in life.

As Behaviour Analysts, we ask ourselves:

🎯Does this support long-term independence?
🎯Does this matter to the individual and relate to their lived experience?
🎯Does this respect the individual’s pace?

As we return after the holidays, let’s take the tomorrow in stride. Getting back into routines can feel like a lot for kids, caregivers, and support staff alike. A little patience, flexibility, and compassion can go a long way. It’s okay to ease back in. 💛

Holiday breaks can be exciting, but also challenging for school-aged children who rely on structure, predictability, and routine.

We're sharing some gentle ways to support them during extended time off.

With structure, support, and lots of compassion, holiday breaks can become a time for comfort, connection, and joy.

Holiday activities like visits with Santa or festive parties can be exciting, but sometimes overwhelming. Planning ahead helps create experiences that feel predictable, regulating, and genuinely joyful for all!

Here are tools that can make a big difference:

📑Social stories to preview what the activity will look like and what to expect.
🖼️ Visual task analysis strips to break events into clear, manageable steps.
✅Role playing provides opportunities to practice skills out of context in order to understand what will likely happen in real context

These supports honour the way many neurodivergent individuals process information, building confidence and reducing stress so the focus can stay on connection, comfort, and fun.

Who are we?

We are a multi-disciplinary team of therapists, connecting dots between families living with special needs and support available in the community.

The integrity of our services is important to us. Our decisions are based on the clinical needs of your child.

Connecting Dots is the resource hub that works with families, not just for them by:

  • Helping individuals with exceptionalities.
