This year, let's have better energy levels for Karva
Chauth!
💦 It starts with being hydrated. I suggest taking a
tall glass of water with you to your bedside the night
before. In the AM, drink the water before you even
get out of bed.
For your first meal, we want to balance it with energy
dense foods. If you're like me, you might not have a
big appetite that early in the morning, so we want to
maximize our intake to last us the day.
🍽 Before dawn, here are some options:
Whole Grains: oatmeal, paranta, whole grain
bread
💝 Protein (aim for >20 grams): nuts, seeds, cottage
cheese, greek. Yogurt, cheese, milk, beans, and
lentils
💝 Water dense fruits: melons, apples, grapes,
pears, strawberries, pomegranates, etc.
💝 Healthy Fats: nuts and seeds, olive oil, avocados
Other high energy foods: dry fruits (dates,
raisins, etc.), saviya, and coconut
🍽 After moonrise, here's some foods traditionally
eaten and how we can have a more balanced meal:
🌝 Whole grains: brown rice, whole grain roti, quinoa
🌝 Protein: Kaali daal (or other beans/lentils), dahi, nuts/seeds
🌝 Fruits and Veggies: cooked subzi and water dense raw veggies (cucumbers, baby
tomatoes), water dense fruits like oranges,
melons, grapes, etc.
🌝 Be sure to also hydrate with water after you have broken your fast.

happiness, peace and harmony. I hope this day strengthens the connection between you, your
partner, and your family.
