💕 Tag someone who needs this 💕

This year, let's have better energy levels for Karva
Chauth!

💦 It starts with being hydrated. I suggest taking a
tall glass of water with you to your bedside the night
before. In the AM, drink the water before you even
get out of bed.

For your first meal, we want to balance it with energy
dense foods. If you're like me, you might not have a
big appetite that early in the morning, so we want to
maximize our intake to last us the day.

🍽 Before dawn, here are some options:
Whole Grains: oatmeal, paranta, whole grain
bread
💝 Protein (aim for >20 grams): nuts, seeds, cottage
cheese, greek. Yogurt, cheese, milk, beans, and
lentils
💝 Water dense fruits: melons, apples, grapes,
pears, strawberries, pomegranates, etc.
💝 Healthy Fats: nuts and seeds, olive oil, avocados
Other high energy foods: dry fruits (dates,
raisins, etc.), saviya, and coconut

🍽 After moonrise, here's some foods traditionally
eaten and how we can have a more balanced meal:
🌝 Whole grains: brown rice, whole grain roti, quinoa

🌝 Protein: Kaali daal (or other beans/lentils), dahi, nuts/seeds

🌝 Fruits and Veggies: cooked subzi and water dense raw veggies (cucumbers, baby
tomatoes), water dense fruits like oranges,
melons, grapes, etc.

🌝 Be sure to also hydrate with water after you have broken your fast.

Share this post with your loved ones!

Have a blessed Karwa Chauth my friends! May the moonlight shine through your life with
happiness, peace and harmony. I hope this day strengthens the connection between you, your
partner, and your family.

Did you know you need 2 out of these 3 criteria to be diagnosed PCOS?

1️⃣ Irregular periods – this means that the ovaries are not regularly releasing eggs (ovulation)

2️⃣ High androgen – excess androgens which are generally found in large amounts in males and less in females, may cause physical signs such as excess facial or body hair

3️⃣ Multiple cysts in ovaries – AKA polycystic ovaries – these are enlarged ovaries containing many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) that surround the eggs. Regardless of the name all PCOS patients do not actually have cysts.

❤️‍🩹 Many women exhibit symptoms of PCOS but are never tested for PCOS. Once you know, you can start to educate yourself on how to manage your condition better!

PCOS is complex and has many layers to it.

Unfortunately, too many people have been told to “just loose weight” or take birth control as a solution, which doesn’t get down to the root problem and help you address it.

As a start, here are 5 things you can do to help you get started on thriving with PCOS management:

1. Have a balanced diet full of protein, healthy fats, and fibre.
2. Get good quality sleep, which will help you have better energy throughout the day!
3. Focus on exercises and movement that bring you joy!
4. Stay hydrated and make water your drink of choice more often!
5. Implement stress reducing techniques into your to help your adrenal glands function more optimally.

Awareness precedes change. One of my past coaches taught me this! Start by improving your lifestyle one baby step at a time so that you can actually create successful habit changes.

If you want some guidance and want someone to hold your hand through this process, DM me the word “change”. I’d love to learn more about you and see if we are a good fit!

Comment below with how long it took for you to get diagnosed with PCOS ..I’m curious!

Did you know that 10 million women have PCOS, half of which don’t even know they have it?!? 🤯

❤️‍🩹 Many women experience irregular periods and are prescribed birth control as the solution.

❤️‍🩹 Many women have excessive hair growth and are only told about laser, waxing, or shaving as the treatment.

❤️‍🩹 Many women feel tired during the day and are judged for being “lazy”.

❤️‍🩹 Many women experience weight fluctuations and are stigmatized for not working hard enough at dieting or exercising.

⚠️ Unfortunately, there is no known cure for PCOS, but there are definitely a lot of treatments that can help ease the stress and complications of PCOS symptoms.

✨ As a Dietitian and Nutrition Coach, I focus on holistic ways to help manage PCOS so that you can stop worrying and start living your life. DM for my short program video to learn more!

You’re trying to be "healthy", but this is actually diet culture disguising it's sneaky self as health claims!

1️⃣ Detoxing - your body (liver and kidneys) already do this everyday...regardless of what you ate. You don't need to only drink fruits and veggies to help your body do this very important function!

2️⃣ Eating based on the clock - You are not a robot. Listening to your body's hunger and fullness cues are important! If you are hungry, you should eat! By waiting too long, you will likely overeat and eat faster.

3️⃣ Too much sugar - I teach my clients how to love food for how it makes them feel! Yes eating too many donuts won't make you feel good, but having one occasionally will keep you mentally and emotionally happier than avoiding them altogether, forever.

4️⃣ I'm not "allowed" - Restricting foods often leads to binging! Including all foods in our diet is key to having a healthy relationship with foods.

5️⃣ 1/2 the sandwich - being too strict with portion sizes will leave you craving for more. You won't be satisfied emotionally, or physically. Learning how to fuel your body is SO important in your sustainable success with nutrition.

6️⃣ Exercising to burn off food - this mentality makes exercise the punishment for eating. You feel guilty about what you ate and now you must punish yourself by exercising.

All these thoughts are sneaky ways that we are dieting without knowing it!

🎃 👻 What sneaky ways do you see diet culture slithering its way into your life? (Comment below!)

Are you looking to ditch the diet mentality and make a positive lifestyle change, where you are happy, energized and can enjoy all foods with your family? DM me to learn more about your options!

🎙 Your body has something to say!🎙

Our bodies are always talking to us…but most of the time we are trying to:
❌ trick,
❌manipulate, or
❌ suppress
our natural cravings and instincts.

…AND when this backfires, well, we become cranky and unhappy people who have cravings. 😵

😎 The trick is to not have your cravings control you, but rather, YOU be in control of your cravings! 💃🏻

🍭 I work 1:1 with my clients to create customized nutrition plans where we tackle the ROOT CAUSE of why they are having the cravings and put out that fire.

🍬 My clients learn HOW TO LISTEN to her bodies. They learn how to respect and respond their cravings so that they are in control!

🥰 It is beautiful!

RED FLAGS EXPLAINED:

🚩”Your cultural food is the problem” - No it’s not! Cultural foods are part of our identity! In my experience, its more about learning how to eat our beloved cultural foods so that we maximize our nutrition, continue to enjoy them and feel our best. 🙌🏽

🚩”Bananas will make you fat.” - No they won’t. They are packed with fiber and lots of potassium! Trust me when I say excessive fruit intake is NOT the reason you’ve gained weight!

🚩”Doctor says just lose weight” - With all due respect, doctors are not nutrition experts. Health is not defined by your size. Let’s shift your focus of “better health” away from your body size and more towards creating a healthier lifestyle.

🚩”Cravings are the work of the devil” - Cravings are your body’s way of talking to you. Learn to listen and you’ll have better control of your cravings :)

🚩”Skipping breakfast is a good idea” - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! What happens at breakfast impacts how the rest of your day will go.

🚩 “Drink water to keep yourself full” - This is a temporary “fullness” that will result in you having serious cravings and eating like a ravenous monster.

🚩 CONTINUED IN COMMENTS ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Please be mindful of where your information is coming from. Just because they show you before and after pictures of weight loss clients doesn’t mean that are helping you build a better relationship with your body or with food. It doesn’t mean that they have nutrition knowledge that goes beyond the internet. It doesn’t mean that they are making your HEALTH a priority.

Do your due diligence and use your common sense. If you aren’t sure, message me (no judgement). I’ll help navigate you!

(P.S. I am a Registered Dietitian with a Masters Degree in Dietetics 🤓…I know some stuff)
