One of my clients told me this week,
“I started skipping healthy meals because I couldn’t do them right.”

That hit me because so many parents feel this way.
Somewhere along the line, “healthy eating” became a checklist instead of self-care.

But here’s the truth
your meals don’t need to be perfect to nourish you.
A frozen veggie, a quick sandwich, a 5-minute breakfast all count.

Enjoying the fruits of my labour this harvest season. A home garden can contribute to a household’s nutrition and food security by providing easy access to fruits and vegetables as well as saving money. It’s also great education for families to learn how to grow and care for a variety of plants. And digging in the dirt, the colours whilst seeing everything flourish does wonders for my mental health.
Pictured here are some snippets from my garden. What am I doing with my harvest so far?
Basil - pesto, tomato/mozzarella salads, then dry the leaves as the weather cools down.
Parsley - salads, garnish, then dried for the winter.
Rosemary- dried for soups, pasta sauces.
Tomatoes - snack on the small ones with hummus, large tomatoes for salads, diced or puréed for chili, spaghetti sauce, curries.
Kale - salads, kale chips, soups, the freeze the remainder
Raspberries-eaten off the bush, or stored in the fridge for snacking later.
And so much more!
