We’re aware of the study that is being shared around, & we want to address it. We want to set the record straight & explain why this is not something to be at all concerned about with The Wolf (or any Adored Beast products, for that matter)! The post sharing the study is alarming, but rather than panicking (which we’re not), we see this as an opportunity to educate.
As you may know, Julie Anne Lee DCH has been studying microbiology & using her probiotics in her veterinary clinics for over 30 years. When she launched the wolf strain probiotic (we were the first in the world to do so, so we had to do a lot to pave the way), it meant starting from scratch. And when you do that with probiotic strains, you have to do a lot of testing.
Julie is meticulous when it comes to testing. We actually went above & beyond what was required. Not only do we conduct our own Research and Development, we also complete rigorous third-party testing with each & every product.
The Wolf contains Enterococcus faecium isolated from free-ranging Canadian wolves. As part of our go-to-market product development & commercialization process, we specifically investigated for the presence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes & their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for a range of antibiotics.
So, we tested specifically for the genes this study warns about.
Those test results show that this particular strain (our wolf strain) is compliant with the international “gold standard” for AMR risk assessment & food safety. The levels are all well below the thresholds considered unsafe. We considered this & specifically tested for this from the beginning.
So, just to ease your minds, ABA would NEVER put anything out unless we’ve done the most stringent testing to be sure it is completely safe for our animals. Remember, we all give these to our own Adored Beasts, too.
