We’ve all heard of fight or flight.
Maybe even freeze.
But there’s another stress response that doesn’t get talked about enough…
the fawn response.
This is when your body is telling you no…
but you say yes anyway.
You go along with things.
You keep the peace.
You avoid conflict.
You push through.
And every time you don’t listen to what you need…
you’re slowly abandoning yourself.
You’re overriding your needs to feel safe.
A lot of us learned to do this early on.
It helped us stay connected, accepted, or protected.
But over time, it can leave your nervous system feeling exhausted, dysregulated, and unsafe in your own body.
So the next time you notice it…
pause.
Take a breath.
Check in.
“What do I actually need right now?”
Maybe you still choose to go forward, but more slowly, more honestly.
Or maybe you give yourself permission to stop.
Either way… you’re starting to come back to yourself, and I am proud of you🤍
