Today's my daughter's first birthday, and as I wrap up this third mat leave, I'm excited to see some old and new faces at Speaking of Speech Language Therapy! If you know someone who is looking for a speech therapist, please share. I have limited spots available.

Speaking of Speech Language Therapy has relocated to just a 5 minutes’ walk from metro Acadie. I hope you are all doing well. Happy trick or treating!

Here is a short but important article (in French) from the Ordre about problems with loi 96. Speech-Language Pathologists need to be able to provide high quality professional services in Quebec, whether the child we are working with speaks English, French or another language. “Inevitably, this would accentuate the gap between supply and demand, which is already very present and would significantly limit access to adapted and quality services for part of the Quebec population.”

Check out this 2019 Report Card. Quebec got a grade of “insufficient” with 30% of infants receiving hearing screenings.

These provinces and territories provided hearing screenings to 89% - 99% of infants: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Yukon.

We need to do better!

Goodbye 2020 and Exciting News!

I am especially looking forward to 2021. A new adventure is about to begin in my family as we are getting ready to welcome a second child. The baby is due in March! I will be off on maternity leave until 2022.

Thank you to all the kids and families I work with. Together, we adapted to our new reality in 2020 and transitioned to online speech therapy. I am so impressed with your flexibility and resilience, and very proud of all the progress the kids have made.

A big thank you and a happy new year!
