“My intro to yoga happened pretty young. I remember thinking the teacher was a bit weird, and that yoga itself was kind of strange. After many years of competitive dance, I went with my mom to a hot yoga class and I absolutely loved it. Dance had become really intense and competitive, and I found the environment harsh and critical. Yoga was the complete opposite, the teachers were encouraging. When I moved to Halifax for university, I found a studio and became an energy exchanger — that’s when my practice became consistent.
I first heard about this studio through Angie Bloom, Sara’s mother-in-law, who told me, “If you’re ever in Montreal, you have to practice with Sara.” Later, when I had a studio in Tremblant, people visiting from Montreal kept telling me the same thing: “If you ever teach there, you have to teach at Morpho.” It just kept coming up. Eventually, I came, took a class with Sara, and fell in love right away. I knew that if I ever moved to Montreal, this is where I wanted to be.
My favorite thing about the studio is the community. I always say there’s yoga seeping out of the walls here. You feel it the moment you walk in — the energy, the history, how much this space has held for so many people. It’s such a positive place to be. The familiar faces, the people who come multiple times a week — it really feels like a place to connect.
Being here has completely shifted my world. I fell in love with the studio… and I also fell in love here. I ended up moving to Montreal because of this place and my partner. I don’t know exactly what drew me here, but it felt like a full-body yes. And as soon as I followed that call, my whole life changed.”
