Holidays can be sweet… and a little intense.

Here in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, one of the kindest holiday traditions is also the simplest: step outside, even for two minutes. Cold air, winter light, and a reset you can bring back to the table.

I wrote a new post for anyone navigating those “snag moments” at family gatherings (loaded comments, old roles, overstimulation). It includes a 10-second reset you can do at the table, tiny boundary scripts you can actually say, and a cool-down toolkit.

Cats are generous when they want to be.

They’re affectionate.
They show up.

And they walk away when they’re done.

Honestly… not a bad holiday model.

I wrote about healthy generosity and boundaries on the blog, link in the comments.

As we move into Thanksgiving weekend, I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude — not as something grand, but as a way of feeling more alive in the life we already have.

The little things matter most: a purring cat, a patch of sunlight, a good cup of coffee, the last vegetables in the garden, maybe a slice of pumpkin pie.

Gratitude lightens what’s heavy and somehow makes the good even better. Some even say it opens the way for more goodness to flow in.

I’m feeling thankful to share something new this season — my Autumn Pocket Guide, a printable journal designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and find your rhythm again. 🍁

However you spend your weekend, I hope you find a moment to pause and say thank you — even just for the small things that make life sweet.

A little story behind the mug...
One spring day, Julep the Cat stopped to smell the lily of the valley in our garden. It was such a tender, curious moment that it stayed with me—and eventually made its way onto a mug.

This design is for anyone who forgets to pause. For the tea drinkers and cat lovers. For the dreamers who find peace in small things.

☕ Stop to Smell the Flowers is now available on Etsy in the Julep the Cat Collection. Printed locally, made with love, and perfect for gifting.

🌿 Take a breath. Sip something warm. And remember—you’re allowed to slow down.

This white trillium stopped me in my tracks.
A quiet presence… like a mirror.

✨ When I know myself, I am rooted.
When I love myself, I bloom.

Being in nature reminds me that I don’t have to try so hard.
That softness is a strength.
That listening inward is enough.

Studies show that time in nature activates the parasympathetic nervous system—calming the mind, regulating emotions, and bringing us back to ourselves. 🌱💚

Profite du soleil… comme Julep.
💛☀️

✨ Woodland Wonder: Bellwort (Uvularia grandiflora) ✨

With its soft yellow, bell-shaped flowers and elegant, stem-pierced leaves, Bellwort is one of spring’s gentle surprises. Found in moist, rich woodlands, this native plant invites us to slow down and look closely.

🌿 A sign of healthy forest soil
🌼 Perfoliate leaves (yes, the stem goes through the leaf!)
🧚‍♀️ Beloved in folklore—some say this is where the fairies dance...

Let your imagination wander. This too is nature connection.
