Recovery Transition Program

Recovery Transition Program The RTP is a Montreal based Peer Mentorship program developed within the MUHC Mental Health Mission. What is the Recovery Transition Program (RTP)?

The RTP was created with the belief that those who live with mental illness and/or addictions are often best equipped to give hope and encouragement to others with similar struggles. The program is made up of a comprehensive mix of services delivered by specially trained patients – known as Peer Mentors – designed to help patients and their family and caregivers find the appropriate support and services following clinical treatment. The RTP was developed via collaboration among patients, families and staff in order to meet gaps in mental health care.

Struggling with mental illness and addiction is always a personal battle against the unknown. In 2020, we shared this unfamiliar territory with a new stranger - COVID-19.
Videographer, Jesse Freeston, filmed the RTP’s activities over a four-year period, capturing the creativity and resilience that allowed it to flourish even in scary times.
The documentary, PEERING AHEAD, premieres on October 21st, at the 5th International Whole Person Care Congress. We invite you to attend the conference and view this eye-opening film. Discover for yourself, “What is the RTP?” See how unique and vital it is. Understand why we need to invest in its ability to thrive and share its design with the mental health care population, far and wide. Please give us a hand with this!
