ARM BALANCES

In this workshop on arm balancing, we explore the development the of the upper body, learning to strengthen while respecting the body's natural alignment. We begin with the simplest postures to develop understanding of functional and anatomical principles, and and create a clear path to developing into the more challenging variants while recognizing and respecting the body's limitations and promoting harmony. These postures are surprisingly helpful and an essential part of the asana practice!
Live in studio and on Zoom, a recording of the workshop will be available for 3 weeks after the class.
For online participation please contact us info@ashtangamontreal.com

Ashtanga is widely known for its acrobatic elements, however the asana practice is at its essence a ritual centred on breath, movement, and engagement with our essential life energy. The set sequence invites students to focus their attention inward, and use the tools of breath, bandhas, vinyasa, and drishti to engage with the subtle body.

Mysore Montreal is an inclusive and safe space, where students of all abilities, ages, and walks of life practice the Ashtanga asana sequence independently, alongside one another in community. The teacher offers tailored adjustments and guidance to support each student's development, while students benefit from the shared experience and energy of the group. Students are encouraged to modify postures as needed, and are empowered to practice in a way that supports their well being.

In this space, through this practice, we are invited to honour the divinity within ourselves, and each other.

November 21st 6:30 pm

Our bodies often alert us to what is happening around us—a reaction that occurs long before our brains register it. When our boundaries are crossed, ignored, or not listened to, we experience physical changes, muscle tension, and a heightened state of alertness. However, we often ignore these vital signals in our daily lives—perhaps because we can't perceive them, we want to avoid upsetting others, or we simply lack the time.

This workshop will begin by guiding you to rest your body, breath, and mind in a safe space. Afterward, we will explore how to become attuned to these signals when boundaries are crossed.

Honouring a brilliant life .krishnamacharya

The Yoga Master “Father on Modern Yoga” Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya was born 137 years ago today ( He was born on November 18, 1888, he left his body on February 28, 1989 at 101 years young).

“Yoga is a process of replacing old patterns with new and more appropriate patterns. If such a practice is followed one acquires the power (Shakti) to change one’s destiny. One person practices the science of yoga thus contributing to the welfare of all humanity. It is yoga which enables our intellect to do or not to do. The yogi gains to choose only what is good. (To attain success in yoga), deep desire, faith, courage, perseverance, Sattvic (pure) and limited food - are required…one should practice daily at an appropriate time with devotion, sincerity and respect…” - T Krishnamacharya

He is basically the reason we are practicing Vinyasa yoga all of planet Earth. He took yoga from being accessible to only a select few to making it accessible to all. He is responsible for getting yoga out of the caves and into the world. Giving thanks for him today (and every day).

(Fun fact, his student of 33 years arrives in Vancouver today and is teaching us at from Nov 19-23. The workshop is sold out in person, but spots still available online.)

Meet the Teacher:
Delal began her yoga journey in 2018 after moving to Canada, and her yoga mat has felt like home ever since. Passionate about playful movement, Delal’s classes encourage exploration through strength and mindfulness.

Delal works as a software engineer at a bank, where she is dedicated to integrating mindfulness into corporate settings. In addition to her yoga training, she is currently completing her Pilates certification.

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21st
Boundaries & Belonging: Finding Your Edges
Boundaries aren’t walls—they are the edges that define and protect who we are. They allow us to connect with others without losing ourselves, to say “yes” with clarity and “no” with confidence.

In this workshop, you’ll explore how boundaries feel in the body, and how somatic awareness can help you strengthen and honor them. Through movement, grounding exercises, and partner practices, you’ll begin to sense where your “yes” ends and your “no” begins—and how those edges shift in different contexts.

By reconnecting to your embodied sense of boundaries, you’ll also deepen your capacity for trust, intimacy, and authentic connection.

In this workshop, you will:
✔ Discover what safety and belonging feel like in your body
✔ Learn somatic practices for sensing and maintaining boundaries
✔ Explore the balance between connection and individuality
✔ Leave with tools to navigate relationships with clarity and care

✨ No experience is needed—come as you are.
