Centre for Reproductive Loss

Centre for Reproductive Loss Centre for Reproductive Loss & Reproductive Healthcare Options

We acknowledge and respond compassionately to the emotional, spiritual, and psychological distress of individuals and families affected by such loss as miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, adoption, SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), infertility, and sterility. By providing professional support services, we support the healing of mind, body, and spirit through a holistic approach, the Healing Process Model ©, which promotes constructive healthy grieving and healing for those whose lives have been touched by these painful events, as well as, educating caregivers and the public on reproductive loss grief issues. In addition, we aim to educate young people in caring for their reproductive health, raise public awareness of factors which affect fertility and factors preventing infertility through our Reproductive Healthcare Options (RHO) Project .

Prematurity carries many stories.
Today, we acknowledge all of them.

We honor the babies who lived and fought with incredible strength.
We honor the babies who passed away.
And we honor every family who has carried fear, hope, grief, and resilience in ways most people will never fully understand💜

---

As part of the Perinatal Loss Project, in partnership with Little Bean Foundation our next workshop will be for grieving partners.
It is especially created for those who may not have experienced the loss in their own body, but whose grief is still heavy, confusing, and deeply felt.

---

This past November 2nd was World Fertility Day — a day to open real conversations about fertility, awareness, and wellbeing.

We’d like to take this opportunity to shine a light on the world young people are growing up in. A world both connected and disconnected at the same time. Through social media and entertainment, youth often misunderstand s*x, love, relationships, and even life itself.

We believe they deserve better!

That’s why the Centre for Reproductive Loss, together with Laura Aguilar, created the Reproductive Healthcare Options Project. A fertility awareness initiative to help teenagers and young adults reflect on what they see, question what they’re told, and build a more conscious, compassionate understanding of their bodies, thei s*xuality, and their choices.

Verify the facts for your future. Social media isn’t enough.

Today, most of what we learn, share, or believe comes through a screen. But algorithms don’t show us the whole world, only a part of it.

Seeking different sources, hearing diverse opinions, and forming our own perspective are essential parts of growing up, thinking freely, and making conscious choices. Because being truly free also means knowing our bodies, our reproductive rights, and our dignity.

To make informed decisions, we need to listen to BOTH sides of the conversation, even the ones that make us feel uncomfortable or angry. Not to pick a “side,” but to understand better, gain perspective, and grow in tolerance and compassion.

The internet can teach us a lot
if we also learn to look beyond what the algorithm chooses for us.
💭 To know, to think, to choose — that’s the true power of information.

❗Open Letter

The Centre for Reproductive Loss and I are proud to join 23 organizations from across Québec in signing this open letter, calling on the RQAP to take action and move from awareness to concrete change.

A year ago, at the AssemblĂ©e nationale du QuĂ©bec, QuĂ©bec took an important first step in recognizing the reality of perinatal loss, by designating October 15 as — a grief that is too often invisible.

This year, we returned to the Assembly to stand with DĂ©sirĂ©e McGraw, MNA for NDG, as she tabled a motion calling for a review of the RĂ©gime quĂ©bĂ©cois d’assurance parentale (RQAP), so that families who experience pregnancy and infant loss can finally receive the time, dignity, and recognition they deserve.

On this Awareness Day, it is the perfect time to move from awareness to action.
The RQAP must act.
It’s time for empathy to become policy.

A heartfelt thank you to the Réseau des Centres de ressources périnatales du Québec (RCRPQ) for its leadership, and to Désirée McGraw, MNA for NDG, for her commitment, courage, and compassion.

Today, my heart is with all families, parents, and friends who have lived the unimaginable — and especially with all the babies gone too soonđŸ©”đŸ©·
