The step-up is a seriously underrated movement! Here's a quick breakdown of why it's so effective:
Why it works so well:

It's unilateral (one leg at a time), which exposes and corrects strength imbalances between legs

The box height lets you easily shift emphasis — lower = more quad, higher = more glute

It mimics real athletic movements like climbing, sprinting, and jumping

Low joint stress compared to squats, making it great for all fitness levels
