Mysore style Ashtanga is known for personalized attention and lots of adjustments, it’s an aspect that draws people to this style of practice. But some days we just need a safe space to show up and be held from a distance.

Whether it’s about the kind of adjustment or any adjustment, no thank you always needs to be an option with no negative consequences. That way, students keep their power, and teachers play the supporting role, as it should be.

Ashtanga is widely known for its acrobatic elements, however the asana practice is at its essence a ritual centred on breath, movement, and engagement with our essential life energy. The set sequence invites students to focus their attention inward, and use the tools of breath, bandhas, vinyasa, and drishti to engage with the subtle body.

Mysore Montreal is an inclusive and safe space, where students of all abilities, ages, and walks of life practice the Ashtanga asana sequence independently, alongside one another in community. The teacher offers tailored adjustments and guidance to support each student's development, while students benefit from the shared experience and energy of the group. Students are encouraged to modify postures as needed, and are empowered to practice in a way that supports their well being.

In this space, through this practice, we are invited to honour the divinity within ourselves, and each other.
