This is one of the most important things to understand about modern education: the feeling of not being creative is not a personal failure. It is the successful output of a system built to produce conformity.

The Prussian education model still the global default was designed to remove independent thinking. But neuroscience tells us creativity is not fixed. It can be lost, yes. And it can be reclaimed.

The first step is understanding that it was taken, not absent.

In design and in life the process is the education. When you understand every step that led to a result, you can trace back, adjust, and improve. When you only have the result, you're stuck.

Great design teachers evaluate the thinking, not just the output. A polished portfolio without a traceable process is a beautiful house with no foundation.

"Strong roots, flexible branches. Without the roots, there's nothing to flex."

The most adaptable designers are not the ones who learned the most tools they're the ones with the deepest foundations.

Cultural history, philosophy, music, architecture, craft: these are the roots that allow a designer to bend without breaking when the world changes.

Schools that focus only on surface skills are producing graduates with no foundation to stand on. Strong roots first. Then and only then can the branches move freely.

"AI doesn't have innate curiosity. If you don't prompt it, it won't go looking."

Curiosity is one of the last truly human advantages. An AI waits to be asked. A curious human goes looking for problems nobody noticed, for connections nobody made, for questions nobody thought to ask.

Curiosity is not a soft skill. Neurologically, it shares its roots with creativity: both emerge from openness, from the willingness to not know.

Cultivating curiosity in students isn't a nice-to-have. It's the most future-proof thing education can do.
