In Canada, 2/3 of adults and 1/3 of kids are overweight. Should we approach it as a chronic illness due to underlying medical issues? Or is it entirely due to lifestyle choices? Or a complex interaction of both?

Studies show that by the year 2025, an estimated 2.7 billion individuals worldwide will be overweight or clinically obese. A number of health issues can be avoided by preventing obesity, but 9 patients out of 10 who are told by their physician to lose weight do not know where to start or how to do so in a healthy way.

Another year, another flu season! Last year we witnessed a notable dip in the number of influenza infections which was likely related to the public health measures put into place to protect us from COVID-19 such as masks, hand washing and social distancing. This year’s flu forecast, however, isn’t looking as bright.
