Dear colleagues, this is for you:

A free newsletter on mental health and AI co-authored by a psychologist and a data scientist (AI specialist). Our mission: to empower therapists with the AI literacy they need to use AI safely and confidently. We cover:

- spotlight on AI trends and how they fit (or not) in your practice
- resources - stay in the loop on training and development opportunities
- practical know-how to use AI cost-effectively in your practice, whether you're a beginner or a techie

👏 BIG thank you to the 17 new subscribers. This project has been brewing since 2023, and we're super excited to see the support within just HOURS of launching.

Comment if you'd like us to cover a particular topic or for your questions on using AI in clinical practice.

This content is intended for an audience of registered psychologists and allied mental health professionals only.

Precisely the topic I explored in a recent piece for Psychologie Quebec, the magazine of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec. You can read it here (French only): https://www.ordrepsy.qc.ca/-/risques-de-l-ia-dans-la-pratique-clinique-et-strategies-d-attenuation

Psychologists are uniquely positioned to shape ethical, effective, and safe mental health technologies. Yet they need to know the risks. As psychologists begin adopting AI tools in their practice, it’s important to ask: What risks should we be aware of? And how can we mitigate them?

For my clients (and anyone curious about AI in mental health): the risks I discuss for clinicians apply just as much to the public. If you use or experiment with technologies like large language models for your own wellbeing, you may find this piece especially insightful.

Unlike mental health professionals, chatbots are designed to keep you engaged—not necessarily to support your well-being.
