Just south of Moose Jaw on a quiet winding road through Wakamow Valley you will find a place called Valley View Centre. It is a home for over 200 people with intellectual disabilities. The Centre employs over 500 staff and is an integral part of the Moose Jaw Community. Valley View Centre has been a home for Saskatchewan residents with intellectual disabilities since 1955. The Centre is a place where people can live a full and rewarding life in a warm and welcoming setting with all the supports and professional services they require. The residents are accepted for who they are and the Centre is truly their home. Many of these people have called the Centre home for over 50 years. The Centre also provides laundry services to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, Providence Place, Pioneer Lodge and several other businesses/facilities in the Moose Jaw area. What you may not know is the Laundry department provides meaningful employment to 15 people who have intellectual disabilities who live in the community of Moose Jaw. Many of the people in our community have no idea this home, and the services provided at Valley View Centre are in jeopardy. Help us ensure the people who live at the Centre continue to have the same or greater services provided by their current caregivers in Moose Jaw if that is their desire or the desire of their family.
