Monday feels after a weekend on the road! 🄱😓

I am feeling that ā€œhorse show hangoverā€ hard this Monday! But did you know your horse could be too? This weekend we our horses spend about 10 hours in the trailer travelling, plus they all worked hard for me all weekend in 30+ degree heat at the jackpot and rodeo, so I know they are feeling just as sore and tired as me! Most times we assume we should be giving our horses a rest day after big weekends, however we need to keep in mind our horses lymphatic systems. Standing in the trailer and preforming their jobs are taxing on your horse and their muscles so the day following we need to ensure we keep our horses moving either through a slow ditch ride or doing a stretching routine to help support the lymphatic system with draining out waste products (lactic acid) produced from those long miles and hard work.

I get it, I’ve been dreaming of hitting my pillow since I left for work this morning, it’s easy to say ā€œlet’s give them the day off, they need itā€. BUT taking a 1/2 hour to go for a slow ride or do some stretching today will have your horse feeling so much better tomorrow when you’re ready to get back to the grid prepping for the next weekend!

If you’re interested in getting a custom designed stretching program for your horse to help support them, let’s chat!!

If you want to get to places you've never been, you're going to have to do things you've never done.

Growth is dependent upon uncomfortable action. If you live within your comfort zone, chances are, you are going to continue getting the same results.

In your horsemanship, maybe that uncomfortable action means dropping your hands a little bit or relaxing your legs. Or, maybe, it means being more aggressive in your competitive runs.

Whatever that uncomfortable action is, you must be willing to analyze your own performance and recognize what steps you need to take to get to that next level.

In doing this, you might be opening yourself up to frustration and embarrassment—but, that is okay.

Anytime you feel like you have failed, embrace that, because it means you’re growing.

I’m very excited to share that I have officially earned my certification as an equine body worker! This industry is unregulated in Canada, meaning anyone can call themselves a body worker regardless of their education, so I am proud to have earned a quality education through such a well respected organization and from one of the most accomplished body workers in Canada to set myself apart! I am also committed to continuing my learning to be able to serve your horses the best I possibly can!

Hey guys, Kenzie here. It has been a HOT MINUTE since I’ve been on this page, but I’ve been busy! Here’s couple of the highlights of my summer so far to bring you up to speed:
āš”ļøIn May I completed my externship (200 pages to be exact) and mailed it in to be marked
āš”ļø My partner and I bought and moved into our dream home in June
āš”ļø We build fence and got our horses moved home!! (We’ve both been boarding for the last 5 years so this was Huge for us)
āš”ļø We’ve had so much family time!
āš”ļøWe’ve started rodeoing and jackpoting again!!!

I’m set to receive my externship back in the next couple weeks and I will be ready to start taking clients at a greater capacity in August, I will be able to travel to you or there will be an option for haul-in as well! I’m also committing to being more active on this page to share more about equine body work and tips and tricks you can use at home to help enhance your horses wellness!! I can’t wait to help your horses feel their absolute best this summer as we all get back to competing!!

Now that you know a little bit about Flying MC Equine Therapy, I thought I’d introduce myself!

My name is MacKenzie Henn. I grew up in Alberta on my families feedlot and cow calf operation and began riding horses before I could walk. Now I hang my Hat in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and am still just as in love with horses. These two fellows in the photo are Fly and Honey Badger and are both a big reason Flying MC Equine Therapy came to be. I’m sure you will see their faces quite a bit around here. Growing up I was a pony club kid and earned my B2 level, the 2nd highest level possible. During that time I showed jumpers and eventers, and also competed in high school rodeo for a brief stint. I moved to Saskatchewan for university and began working for a horse trainer, which is where I (re) learned to rope and drive teams. Fun fact: I helped break a 6 up of Clydesdales that toured western Canada in 2019 to parades and rodeos. I now primarily focus on team roping, and am getting started in the breakaway. Both of my horses I have now I trained myself and am really excited to start taking badger, my youngest horse, to jackpots this year!

Tell me something about you below, I’d love to get to know you better!
