Maybe this is an unpopular opinion…..

But my husband and I have never really done Valentine’s Day.

We’ve been together 15 years. And the big, one day, showy romance thing? Just not really us.

Instead we’ve tried to build something more steady, quieter (well not always 😉).

Connecting on random Tuesday’s. Day dates for no reason. Acknowledging the small things. Having hard conversations. And choosing to appreciate one another when it’s not promoted.

And honestly? I think that’s why our connection FEELS steady. Growing. Safe.

I love that Valentine’s Day exists. Not as a day to be performative in your show of love or affection - but as a reminder.

Don’t save your tenderness, your heart, your wanting and willingness to connect authentically for one day a year.

Sometimes the real magic happens in the ordinary days and moments. 💛

In my work with patients, it’s not about doing more or even doing less - it’s about doing what actually fits your body, your life and your capacity right now.

Despite what the gurus say online. 😉

Sitting with my damn self, part 1.

Sometimes we do things without really thinking why we are even doing it.

Do I like chips? Heck yes. Did I need two giant bowls to fullfill my like for chips? Heck no.

So I got curious as to what I was actually trying to achieve with the chips. (Because it wasn’t really about the chips at all 😉) and i realized I was just feeling sad, missing my husband and bored that he wasn’t there to fill my evening with less of the “mom I need a snack” that I normally hear.

And I could achieve this not bored, less sad feeling with lots of tasty chips to override those sensations.
