Our AGM is coming up in May! 🎉

What is an AGM?

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a yearly gathering where members of the gym, the community, and the board come together to review the past year, hear updates from leadership, and discuss important topics for the future. It’s a chance to stay informed, ask questions, and be part of shaping what’s next.

You won’t want to miss it this year — we’ve got an open gym, an open forum so you can share your thoughts with the board, and prizes!

Have you been in to see the recent changes in the gym yet? It’s looking great!

Now that equipment has been moved around, please remember to put all weights and equipment back where they belong.

Remember: dumbbells are arranged from the smallest weight to the largest weight, with the heaviest weights being placed on the lowest levels of the rack. This is the safest and most convenient way for all members to access dumbbells in the gym.

Remember that weight plates are also arranged with the lightest weights at the top of the rack and the heaviest weights at the bottom of the rack. Again, this is for safety and accessibility.

Finally, please don’t stack weight plates in random order. Please keep all the 10lb plates on one level, all 25lb plates on another level, etc. etc. This helps save time and energy so other members aren’t having to move a bunch of plates just to get to the one they need.

It is everyone’s responsibility to help keep the gym clean and organized, so please do your part to help us keep it this way ☺️

🚨 Big things are coming! 🚨

In anticipation of some exciting changes, we will be moving around equipment on Saturday, March 28.
This will begin around 10AM.

The project should be wrapped up on Saturday, or Sunday if it ends up taking longer than we expect, but the gym will still be open during this time!

*Please be plan your workout accordingly, and be willing to adapt if certain areas/machines are not available during this time.

Introducing a recent addition to the MWC Board of Directors: Julian Waldner!

Get to know a bit about Julian:

• Julian lives in Morris and works as an electrician and personal trainer.

• He’s been coaching volleyball for a few years and takes pride in helping others get stronger, healthier, and more confident. While he doesn’t have a single favorite exercise, he loves incorporating a wide variety of movements into his training programs.

• Julian is currently focused on running faster, jumping higher, and lifting heavier.

• His favorite pre-workout snack is an apple, and his ideal post-workout meal is steak. His preferred comfort food is pizza, and his go-to quick meal is beef and rice.

• Outside of the gym, Julian enjoys Marvel movies, spending time with family and friends, playing basketball and volleyball, and training for Spartan races.

Please join us in welcoming Julian to the board!

With recent influxes of more members (especially more NEW members!), we wanted to provide a quick reminder/overview of regular gym etiquette.

When using the facility, please make sure you…

☑️ Remove outdoor footwear before entering
☑️ Wipe down equipment after use
☑️ Put garbage in the garbage
☑️ Unrack your weights after use
☑️ Put weights/equipment back where it belongs (‼️)
☑️ Avoid propping doors open or leaving doors open when exiting (NOTE: propping the upstairs multiplex door open can actually cause the door to break ‼️)

Thank you for your commitment to keeping the gym clean, safe, and organized for all members! 👍🏼

Bonus piece of etiquette: while there is no need for heavy fragrances in the gym, we would ask for all members to be cognizant of their body odour; please wear deodorant in the gym! ☺️🧼

Planning your workout routine for the week? 📋☑️

Here’s a quick reminder that we have partnered with Morris School once again so that high school students can learn about health and fitness principles in a real community gym setting!

High School Phys. Ed. classes will be using the Wellness Center on:

🗓 Mondays: 2:15–3:15
🗓 Wednesdays: 8:45–10:45 & 2:15–3:15
🗓 Fridays: 2:05–3:15

Please plan your workouts accordingly, as the gym may be busier during these times.
