*UPDATED*

SINNAMON, Richard “Rick” - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, Dad and Poppa, Richard Kenneth Sinnamon while vacationing with his family in Mexico on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Rick is survived by his wife Patty (née Grantham) of 44 years; sons Andrew (Bern) and Shawn (Megan) Sinnamon, and daughter Michelle Matheson (Andrew); and his seven grandchildren whom he loved so dearly: Nathaniel, Theo and Callum Sinnamon, Hunter and Rowan Sinnamon, and Kiera and Mackenzie Matheson. Rick was the eldest son of Robert (deceased) and Arlene Sinnamon. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Wayne (Nancy), Brock (Linda) and Brad, as well as sister-in-law Mary Jayne Gosnell (George). Rick will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members in Northern Ireland, and many dear friends.

Rick retired as a Staff Sergeant with the Ontario Provincial Police in 2012, having served in various detachments as well as the Contract Policing Branch over his 33-year career before retiring from the Grey Bruce Detachment in Chatsworth.

Rick wasn’t one to sit and watch the world go by – he got involved in his community in many organizations. He was an active member in Mount Forest Lions Club and previously Exeter Lions, and in 2011 was presented with a Melvin Jones Fellow award from Lions International, the highest honour given to a Lions Club Member. He was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mount Forest Branch 134.

He served on the Mount Forest Minor Hockey Executive for many years, and certainly long after Andrew and Shawn no longer played in the minor league. He served as the Ice Convenor for about 15 years. Rick was currently serving on the Mount Forest Patriots executive and loved cheering on the local team. One of his biggest accomplishments was his participation on the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex Building and Fundraising Committees, ensuring that Mount Forest had a new state of the art recreation facility for the community to enjoy for generations to come.

Rick co-chaired the Mount Forest District High School Parent Council along with his good friend Dave Moran at a time when the community faced having the school closed. He and Dave were instrumental in not only keeping the high school in Mount Forest, but having a brand-new school built, an effort that garnered his recognition as Mount Forest Citizen of the Year in 2000.

His community leadership didn’t stop there. He also served on the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation for several years including in the capacity as Chairman. In 2016 he served on the Wellington County Plowing Match Committee.

Above all of these wonderful accomplishments, his greatest joy was his family. He and Patty were blessed to travel extensively throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, Caribbean and the U.S. They also travelled to Ireland on several occasions to visit with Rick’s extended family. He was so very proud of his three children, and to add seven grandchildren to the family circle was beyond anything he imagined. He beamed so proudly at every one of Kiera’s dance recitals and attended countless hockey, lacrosse, baseball and soccer games to watch his grandsons play. Spending time at the cottage in Severn Bridge meant quality time with family. He loved to anchor the boat on Lake Couchiching or Sparrow Lake and jump in with the kids.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6th from 1:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex, 850 Princess Street, Mount Forest, where the celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. Following, all are invited to remain at the hall for refreshments and fellowship. Spring interment at Mount Forest Cemetery. If you are unable to attend the service in person, you are invited to view livestream by visiting the funeral home website and clicking on the link below Rick’s obituary.

Memorial donations may be made to Mount Forest United Church, Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation, or a local minor sports organization of your choice. Donations and online condolences may be made at

ILLINGWORTH, Barbara Ellen (née Pritchard) – Passed away at the Louise Marshall Hospital on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at the age of 75.

Barbara’s life was a journey of extraordinary accomplishments. Her singing brought her to the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir in her youth, and to Carnegie Hall in later life. She performed in dozens of professional and amateur theatrical productions. She had two careers in which she excelled: first as a home economist, and later as an English and drama teacher at the Mount Forest High School until her retirement. She travelled the world, from Seoul to St. Petersburg. Her secret was to pour her heart and soul into everything she did.

Barbara was born on November 15, 1950 in Toronto, the oldest daughter of Jack and Evelyn Pritchard. From a young age, Barbara had a passion for the arts, dancing alongside her sister, Patricia (Peter McKinnon). Her love of literature would build a library that never stopped expanding. While attending Emery Collegiate High School, Barbara caught the acting bug, which she never lost. It was also there that she met Peter, the love of her life and husband of 51 years.

Barbara and Peter moved to the Mount Forest area in 1975 to start a family, building their own house and farm outside Kenilworth, and later moving to town in 1989. In her children John (Lesley) and Sarah (Thomas), Barbara instilled her own great sense of curiosity and joy for life, and she took pleasure in fostering those qualities in her beloved grandchildren: Ben, Brynn, Kennedy, Madison, Mairead, Bronwyn, and Mackenzie.

Barbara’s years of teaching at Mount Forest and Wellington Heights gave her an extended family she cared for deeply. She loved following her former students’ successes and kept in touch with many. Barbara was devoted to giving students the opportunity to experience the thrill of “putting on a show” and she spent countless hours in rehearsals, building sets and making costumes, with the sole purpose of creating a little magic. Indeed, her greatest success was to teach those she loved what she knew from the very start: that “the world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper”.

Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest on Thursday, February 12th from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens, North York.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Barbara to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation. Online condolences and donations may be made at

DOOLITTLE, Claire Winston McArthur - Age 83, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Honolulu, Hawaii, following complications from a heart attack.

Born on April 26, 1942, in Aurora, Ontario, Claire was the youngest of seven children born to Clarence and Iona Doolittle. Growing up in Aurora alongside his siblings Loring, Jolyne, Garfield, Clayton, Bernice, and Audrey shaped his lifelong values of respect, hard work, and community. He was predeceased by his parents and all his siblings.

Claire attended Aurora High School before earning a degree in Industrial Arts and a teaching certificate from the University of Toronto. Farming was always close to his heart, and he farmed in Arthur Township for 20 years, but teaching became his life’s calling. He began his teaching career at Oakville High School from 1964 to 1966, and in January 1967 joined Mount Forest District High School, where he taught Industrial Arts until his retirement in 1998. He later spent ten years as a Health and Safety Instructor for co-op students, continuing his commitment to preparing young people for the working world.

Claire poured everything he had into his students and the school. A dedicated coach and mentor, he led the Mount Forest District High School football team to championship victories in 1968 and 1970, and also coached basketball. Beyond the school, he coached many minor hockey teams, leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes. In his early years in Mount Forest, he was an active member of the Kinsmen and K-40, always ready to contribute where help was needed.

Known for his big personality, love of conversation, and fondness for storytelling — even if you had heard the story before — Claire believed deeply in showing up prepared and giving your best effort. One of his favourite reminders was, “If you’re not 15 minutes early, you’re late”. He had little tolerance for laziness or lack of effort, but endless patience and respect for anyone willing to work hard. He was always there to lend a hand or help with whatever needed doing.

Above all else, Claire loved his family, farming, sports, and honest hard work. He is survived by his beloved wife Eileen, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage; his children Aaron Doolittle, Robin Doolittle and Victoria Freeman; daughter-in-law Manami Doolittle, and his cherished grandchildren Isla and Charlie. His influence extended far beyond his family, touching generations of students, athletes, colleagues, and friends throughout the Mount Forest community.

Claire lived by the belief that everyone deserves respect and support if they are willing to work for it. He taught those around him to work hard and trust that things will work out. His family is deeply grateful for everything he taught them — lessons that will continue to guide them every day.

A celebration of Claire’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., with family remembrances being shared at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex Community Hall, 850 Princess Street, Mount Forest.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire’s memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation. Online condolences and donations may be made at
