Accessibility and Emergency Safety Survey
We are inviting people with disabilities, older adults, and caregivers to take part in an important 10β15 minute survey about safety during emergencies such as fires, floods, power outages, and equipment failures. Your experiences matter, and your voice will help shape national recommendations to make buildings and emergency response more accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities.
This survey is part of a national project led by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC), NFPA, and the Rick Hansen Foundation. The goal is to understand real-world experiences and identify barriers that people face at home, at work, and in public places during emergencies.
Your responses are anonymous, voluntary, and confidential. You can skip any question that does not apply to you. If you are a caregiver, you may answer on behalf of the person you support.
The Survey can be found at Fire and Life Safety in the Built Environment, and will be open until January 9th, 2026.
Your input will help improve building codes, emergency planning, firefighter training, and public safety for people across Canada. Thank you for helping make communities safer and more accessible
