Money can’t buy you love, but it can change a young person’s life.
More than half of young people (aged 18-24) who had early signs of a mental illness said cost was an obstacle to getting the mental health services they needed.
While free mental health care services do exist, they often come with a long wait time, a limited number of sessions, or do not cover specializations some young people need.
Without having access to targeted mental health services, a young person’s mental health struggles can snowball into other issues. In Canada, people with poorer mental health are 50% more likely to live in inadequate housing. They also experience a higher rate of unemployment, making it even more difficult to afford specialized mental health supports.
But you can help us change this.
Our Therapy Fund helps young people access specialized private practitioners to support their mental health so they don’t fall through the cracks. Last year, the fund supported 52 young people to afford trauma therapy, art & play therapy, equine therapy, and treatment for eating disorders, for example.
The Therapy Fund is running low, and we now risk having to turn young people away. With a donation to the Therapy Fund, you can help us make sure this doesn’t happen.
Your donation of $5, $50, $500 – whatever amount you can give – will go directly to a young person who needs specialized care they can’t afford.
