Mind-Aid Muskoka

Mind-Aid Muskoka Mental health navigation and support for young people in Muskoka. It is not always clear where to start when you are embarking on a journey to mental wellness.

If you, or someone you care about, are struggling mentally, we may be able assist you in getting the help needed. The mental care care system is confusing and hard to navigate and that is why MiND-AID was created. We are here simply to help, and for free. If your first step is reaching out to us, we can help you plan the next ones, that's what we do.

A little note as you scroll šŸ’™

We hope you know that you’re not alone if you feel like everything is a lot right now. There are heavy, difficult, scary, discouraging things happening in the world and in our communities. Many of us are feeling anxious, worried, sad, depressed, confused, angry…or all of the above.

This post from @ā€Œwonder_doodles reminds us that even in these times, we have something to look forward to: ā€œThe future may feel unclear but there are good people, like you, and because of that there is good to come.ā€

Our community is chock full of good people (🫵) who make the days better. When things are tough, it’s our community who we can turn to for support.

And if you need support for your mental health, we are part of your community. We’re just a call, text, or message away. Reach out to us at navigator@mindaidmuskoka.com or 844-646-3243.

Now we know how Frodo felt…

(…but maybe we should rewind a bit!) A few weeks ago, we put a call out to our community to help us raise $20,000 for our Therapy Fund by April. Within days, donations rolled in, and we are now only dollars away from reaching our first checkpoint of $5,000!

We still have a long way to go to reach $20,000, but we’re not doing it alone. We have you, our community and friends, who have joined us on this journey. And while we’re not trying to destroy the One Ring, we are trying to destroy the barriers that keep young people from getting specialized therapy. Thank you for supporting this goal so together we can make mental health services more accessible.

If you’d like to be part of this work, you can make a donation to our Therapy Fund at the link here: https://www.mindaidmuskoka.com/fund-their-journey

Let’s get to $5K!

What happens when a community keeps investing in young people? THIS. šŸ‘‡

Sustained support that ensures youth mental health and wellness stays a priority throughout Muskoka. This is what the Dr. William S. Monk Community Health Care Development Fund is doing with its second grant of $30,000 to MiND-AID.

In 2024, the fund’s first grant of $40,000 helped us hire our part-time Nurse Practitioner and get our clinical space on the Hub fully equipped. Now, this second grant means our Nurse Practitioner can continue to reach young people where they are.

We’re so grateful to partner with the Dr. William S. Monk Community Health Care Development Fund and the Muskoka Community Foundation. Together, we’re creating solutions for our community, by our community.

Give it up for these community all-stars! šŸ‘

The students and teachers at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School had a friendly volleyball competition and raised over $1,200 for MiND-AID! They served some serious community spirit and will help more young people access mental health supports and resources.

Here’s Kelly, our Community Outreach Facilitator, accepting the donation. You can see Kelly at BMLSS every other Wednesday during the lunch hour, where she’ll be doing activities and hanging out with the youth who stop by.

Stuck on what to get someone who has everything? Here’s an idea…

Make a donation to our Therapy Fund in their name! Your thoughtful gift will fund therapy sessions for young people who need specialized support but can’t afford it on their own.

šŸŽ A one-time donation = helps to refill our empty Therapy Fund so a young person can begin therapy

šŸŽ A monthly donation = ongoing support that keeps the fund going (and young people going šŸ’Ŗ) all year long

It’s the perfect gift for someone who has it all – and a gift that will mean more than you know.

Get your gift today: https://www.mindaidmuskoka.com/fund-their-journey

This isn’t easy for us to share, but here it is: our Therapy Fund has run empty and we need your help.

When young people reach out to us, we do our best to connect them with free options…but sometimes these options aren’t enough. Or, they aren’t the right fit for what someone needs.

Why? Because not all therapy options are available as free services. Some specialized therapy services are not publicly funded and are only available through private providers. These include trauma therapy, art therapy, equine therapy, and therapy for eating disorders.

No young person should be turned away because they don’t have the money to access the mental health support they need. We started the Therapy Fund to help remove financial barriers to getting help.

Over the years, we’ve been able to keep this fund full thanks to a few generous donors and funding grants.

But not this year.

With more young people needing specialized supports, the Therapy Fund has run empty. The reality now is that when a 15-year-old reaches out for help as a survivor of sexual abuse, we can’t cover the costs of long-term trauma counselling. We can’t help a guardian pay for private art therapy sessions for a child who is grieving the death of their parent.

Cost shouldn’t be a reason why someone’s healing journey ends.

Help us fund their journey to mental wellness. We are asking our community to help us raise $20,000 to refill our Therapy Fund by April 2026.

Your donation of $5, $50, $500 – whatever amount you can give – will go directly to a young person who needs specialized care they can’t afford.

Some people in our community did a super cool thing…

They nominated MiND-AID for a 2026 Canadian Choice Award! We just got word that we’ve been recognized as an Official Nominee in the Non-Profit category. Although we don’t know who put our name forward, we hope they see this post and how much we appreciate it!

Even as a nominee, we already feel like we’ve won. This recognition is really about a community that believes in supporting youth mental health, and we’re so grateful for that.
